(Minghui.org) It was recently confirmed by Minghui.org that a former middle school teacher from Fujian Province passed away on September 11, 2018, three days after he was sent to the hospital by the detention center. His family suspects that he was brutally tortured by the guards for his faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a mind-body practice persecuted by the communist regime since 1999.
Three days before Mr. Ye Guohua's death, the police informed his family that he suddenly suffered an acute illness and had been sent to the hospital. They asked his family members to come to the hospital to finish the paperwork for his medical parole.
When Mr. Ye's family rushed to the hospital, they were devastated to find him in a coma and his body severely swollen. They asked the doctor what was wrong, but were only told that his vital organs, including his heart, lungs, and kidneys, were all failing, but weren't given any specific information.
Mr. Ye was transferred to an intensive care unit the next day, and his family wasn't allowed to get close to him. He never regained consciousness and passed away a day later. He was in his 50s.
When his family asked the police if he had been beaten at the detention center, the police replied: “Never mind. There was a surveillance camera (at the detention center).” This was a clear message to intimidate the family so the wouldn't ask more questions.
A local Falun Gong practitioner later called the detention center to ask what happened to him. The person who answered the phone was very nervous and said, “He's dead, so there's nothing that can be done. Asking about this is just asking for trouble.”
Mr. Ye Guohua was arrested on January 16, 2018, while doing the Falun Gong exercises at Ms. Cao Rongxiu's home, along with four other practitioners, Ms. Zhang Shuiying, Ms. Yang Canying, Ms. Cao Xirong, and Ms. Wu Guiying. The police ransacked Ms. Cao's home and confiscated her Falun Gong books and related materials.
The six practitioners were taken to the police station and interrogated. While the other five practitioners were released by 1 am the next morning, Mr. Ye was kept captive and later taken to the Jianye Detention Center. The police also ransacked his home and confiscated his Falun Gong books and materials.
Mr. Ye was a teacher from the Dongyou Middle School in Jianye City, Fujian Province. He lost his job due to the persecution and was repeatedly arrested and sentenced for his faith.
While he served a five-year term at Minxi Prison in Longyan City between 2001 and 2006, the guards hung him up with his toes barely touching the ground for three days in May 2002. They also stripped his shirt off and exposed him to mosquitos.
During another torture session in 2003, he was forced to stand facing a wall for 12 hours.
After he was released in 2006, he was fired by the school and had to do odd jobs to make ends meet. The police frequently harassed him and his family members.
Only two years after he was released, Mr. Ye was arrested again on July 28, 2008, and sentenced to 5.5 years in June 2009. He served time at a prison in Guangzhou and was released in July 2013.
