Thoughts on “I Don't Know How to Cultivate”

Nov. 7, 2018 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) Some Falun Dafa practitioners say they don't know how to cultivate. They are doing the three things every day and are well versed in the Fa principles, but they don't know how to apply the principles in their daily life.

There Are No Small Things in Cultivation

Everything we encounter in our daily lives is for us to cultivate. We need to examine our every deed and measure it against the Fa. Only when we achieve this, can it be considered genuine cultivation.

I will use cooking as an example. I found that some practitioners can't cook or don't like to cook. They either feel it is too much work, takes too long, or have other reasons not to cook at home.

Cooking for our family involves many aspects where we can behave like a practitioner should. When we go grocery shopping, do we buy things according to our tastes or our family's tastes? Such small things will reflect whether we are considerate of others.

Furthermore, our family member's criticism of our cooking is also a chance for us to improve in our cultivation, to take the criticism and not fight back.

Only when we think of others first, and do things according to the Fa, will our family members not complain about us.

According to traditional Chinese culture, its a woman's responsibly to look after the family. There was an old saying, that a husband would have less misfortune if his wife was virtuous. Cultivators should do even better than a virtuous wife. How many practitioners have achieved this?

Each of us has certain responsibilities and roles in society, and cultivators shoulder more responsibilities and missions. Non-practitioners might not see the Fa, but they can see how practitioners behave.

If we treat each small thing as part of our cultivation, do things according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and guard our xinxing, then that is truly cultivation. Then the beauty of Dafa will unfold in our lives.

The Importance of Getting Rid of Party Culture

I've also found that some practitioners don't know how to cultivate themselves because they are still influenced by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) culture, which hinders them from following the Fa principles in every aspect of their life and cultivation.

The CCP's atheist ideology runs counter to the universe's characteristics of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and places no importance on moral values. If we don't get rid of Party culture, we won't be good people, and we will not be able to elevate ourselves in the Fa.
