Teacher Sentenced to Prison for Telling Students about Falun Gong

Feb. 3, 2018 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Hebei Province, China

(Minghui.org) Ms. Liu Dongmei was recently sentenced to a three-year prison term and fined 6,000 yuan for talking to her students about Falun Gong. She is appealing the case.

The language arts teacher at Buli Middle School in Gaoyang County was arrested on March 31, 2017, after being reported to police for talking to her students about Falun Gong.

Falun Gong is a spiritual practice that follows the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and is being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

Ms. Liu told the students about the benefits of the practice, which includes uplifting people's morals and improving one's character.

She shared her own experience of practicing Falun Gong with the officers who interrogated her. The officers said that the law enforcement system is an “agency of violence” and the “police are their tools.”

The Gaoyang County police submitted her case to the Gaoyang County Procuratorate.

It was learned recently that Ms. Liu has been convicted, though the details of her court hearing remain to be investigated.

The Gaoyang County Education Bureau removed teachers who were Falun Gong practitioners from classrooms after Ms. Liu's arrest. The authorities feared that other practitioners would talk to students about Falun Gong.
