(Minghui.org) A 75-year-old woman in Changsha City was indicted on March 10, 2018, for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime. Ms. Fang Shouqiong is out on bail and awaiting trial.
Ms. Fang walked out of her basement at 5 p.m. on September 20, 2017, to find more than two dozen plainclothes officers by the cellar door. They immobilized her and confiscated her bag and house key.
The police proceeded to ransack Ms. Fang’s home without showing a search warrant. They also did not give her a list of confiscated items as required by law.
Ms. Fang and her family members were taken to the local police station for interrogation. She refused to have her picture taken, and three officers held her tightly to collect her fingerprints and draw a blood sample. She and her family were released around 1 a.m. that night.
Five agents were sent to monitor Ms. Fang the next day. Three different officers came on September 23 and took Ms. Fang to the local detention center to process paperwork to have her formally released on bail.
Officer Jiang appeared one day in 2018 and took Ms. Fang to the local procuratorate. She didn’t know what paperwork was done that day. On March 8, she received a phone call saying that her case had been forwarded to the procuratorate. Eight days later, she was summoned to the procuratorate to answer questions. She was given a notice that she was indicted on March 10.
