The Benefits of Falun Gong (Part 4): Academics

April 16, 2018

(Minghui.org) When Falun Gong was banned in China in 1999, tens of millions of practitioners from all walks of life were practicing it. In this article, we highlight the stories of two successful engineers and how practicing Falun Dafa improved their health and spiritual well-being.

This article is continued from Part 3.

The Story of Song Aichang, a Senior Electrical Engineer

Mr. Song Aichang is a senior electrical engineer in the 13th Research Institute of the China Electronics Science Group. He used to work as Chief of the Equipment and Logistics Management Department. He had been weak and unhealthy since his childhood, and had contracted Tuberculoses, as well as chronic stomach disease.

When he started to practice Falun Gong in 1996, not only did all his illnesses disappear, but his moral character also improved. In 1998, when southern China was hit by a flood, Mr. Song donated over 1,800 yuan for the catastrophe-stricken area. His co-workers were impressed, as that was considered quite a large amount back then.

Mr. Song used to be in charge of logistics purchases when he was chief of the department. He was never greedy, did not pursue personal gain from his job, nor did he ask for any perks or kickbacks. Several times, when people sent gifts to his house, Mr. Song refused to accept them. He told them that that Falun Gong's teachings had made it very clear that a practitioner should not accept money that does not belong to him.

The Story of Xiong Ying, Structural Engineer

Ms. Xiong Ying is a National First Class Registered Structural Engineer from Beijing.

Ms. Xiong started to practice Falun Gong in 1998. From then on, she was no longer tortured by lumbar disc herniation and heart disease.

Ms. Xiong said, “Falun Gong has made me a better person, because it taught me to follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I treat everyone with kindness and strive to be a good person. Whenever I face a conflict, I examine myself and do not point fingers at others.”

Her relationships with co-workers and family members improved significantly. She said, “Since I began putting others first, conflicts between me, my mother-in-law, and sister-in-law no longer exist. I returned to good health and found peace in my heart.”

Before practicing, Ms. Xiong had spent a considerable amount of money on skin care. Practicing makes her a happy and peaceful person, and opens her heart. She was surprised to find that her wrinkles disappeared on their own after she gave up on the skin care products.

BackgroundFalun Gong was first taught to the public in 1992. Nearly 100 million people across China were soon practicing it due to its reputation for improving health and spiritual wellbeing. Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), perceived the spiritual discipline's growing popularity as a threat to the CCP's atheistic ideology and issued an order to ban Falun Gong on July 20, 1999.

Minghui.org has confirmed the deaths of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners in the persecution over the past 18 years; the actual number is suspected to be much higher. More have been imprisoned and tortured for their faith. Evidence shows that the CCP harvests organs from detained practitioners, who are killed in the process, to supply the organ transplant industry.

Under Jiang's personal direction, the CCP established the 610 Office, an extralegal security organization with the power to override the police and judicial systems and whose sole function is to carry out the persecution of Falun Gong.
