Wife Denied Visit with Imprisoned Husband for Shared Faith

May 8, 2018 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Henan Province

(Minghui.org) A Luohe City resident was denied visitation with her husband for the same reason that resulted in his imprisonment.

Both Ms. Kong Yujie and Mr. Liu Yingchun practice Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime. The couple was arrested on March 19, 2017 for refusing to renounce their faith.

The couple has two young boys, ages 1 and 4. Ms. Kong was released a few days later to take care of her sons, while Mr. Liu was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison in early 2018.

Mr. Liu filed an appeal, and Luohe City Intermediate Court soon ruled to uphold the original verdict. He was transferred to Xinmi Prison in early March 2018.

Ms. Kong brought her two boys to visit Mr. Liu in late March, but the prison guards turned her away upon learning that she was also a Falun Gong practitioner.

This is not the first time that Mr. Liu has been targeted for his faith. He was given forced labor in 2004. Police arrested him again in 2009. He had a seizure and foamed at his mouth at the local police department, but he wasn't given any medical help.
