Iranian Practitioner: How Falun Dafa Changed My Life

(Minghui.org) I have been practicing Falun Dafa for seven years. Prior to this, I had tried many other cultivation schools and read many books.

When I started studying Zhuan Falun, I realized that cultivators must practice only one cultivation way. Before this realization, I had been comparing Zhuan Falun with other books I read in the past. After understanding the reason for one cultivation way, I worked hard to let go of what I learned in the past and reminded myself to stay open-minded while reading Zhuan Falun.

What attracted me most to the practice of Falun Dafa is that it improves both mind and body, which means practitioners develop better physical and spiritual health at the same time. I was amazed that it was completely free of charge.

Before I took up Falun Dafa, I had suffered 17 years of spine injuries. I had to rest or undergo physical therapy if I had the slightest pressure applied to my back. My first reaction after watching Master's exercise-teaching video was it was impossible for me to cross my legs on top of each other or finish the four sets of standing exercises. But after I understood the root cause of illnesses by reading Zhuan Falun, I decided to purify my mind and began trying the exercises.

Gradually, I was able to finish the standing exercises and to do the meditation. I've never taken any more pills or needed a long time for rest in the past seven years. Whenever I feel uncomfortable, I just do the exercises.

Through studying Zhuan Falun, I found the answers to many of the questions I couldn't find a solution to in psychology, metaphysics and philosophy before.

In studying psychology, I had learned how to keep myself safe from social harm and unhealthy relationships by identifying patterns of behavior and effective elements in improving relationships.

After studying Zhuan Falun I understood that practitioners must think of others first in everything and not do things for self-interest. Practitioners should live according to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and let go of attachments and human notions that have been formed over the years. These include jealousy, the competitive mentality, lying, pride, showing off, reliance on others, lack of self-confidence, etc. Practitioners need to identify these attachments and improve their moral character. When there is a problem or conflict, practitioners should not behave like before, but judge things according to the standard of the Fa.

Master has given us a magical tool – looking within. This tool helps students identify the root problem and make the right decision to resolve conflicts. When conflicts arise, I look within instead of thinking about the other party's shortcomings or why this conflict has come up. I found this very interesting. But of course looking within amidst conflicts requires a strong main consciousness. It is also imperative that one does not study the book solely to seek knowledge but to understand the deep meaning of its principles. If this knowledge fails to turn into a righteous understanding of the Fa principles or is used only to judge others, we will continue to solve problems in the same old way and we will continue repeating the same mistakes.

I have found that by studying the Fa regularly, doing the exercises and following the principles stated in the book, we can have a tranquil and purposeful life in this human world and avoid many mental and physical illnesses that come about because of this stressful environment. Human science can solve our problems in only a limited way and it is best to use the Fa as guidance to better understand our attachments and to not criticize others. When we measure everything in our life against the Fa, we can understand the karmic relationships between things and we will have a better relationship with family, friends, and colleagues.

In this modern world, social media and television have the strongest impact on families, and the transmission of information and cultures is very fast. People waste a lot of time on social media, news, TV shows and computer games. Without having a guide, a strong will, and traditional values, it's nearly impossible to avoid these things.

I hope more and more people get to know this practice every day so they can improve their mind and body and benefit from it.
