Master Did Not Give Up on Me

Sept. 4, 2018 |   By Yuan Ming, a Falun Dafa practitioner in Hebei Province, China

(Minghui.org) My wife suffered from many illnesses and had to be on daily doses of medication. Then a benign tumor was found on her liver in the spring of 1996. Doctors in two different hospitals recommended she just ignore it. I quit my job and tried to find treatments and medicines for her.

Giving up Falun Dafa Out of Fear

One of our relatives introduced Falun Dafa to my wife and said that the exercises were very effective. Without hesitating, she decided to start this cultivation practice, and within a month, she had recovered from all her ailments

People in nearby villages witnessed her recovery, so many of them came to my home to learn Falun Dafa. We bought a video player, television, and recorder and played Master's lecture video in my yard, because our house was too small for all the people that came. I also listened to the lectures and learned the exercises. Gradually, I became a Falun Dafa practitioner, too.

However, in July 1999, Jiang Zemin, the head of the communist regime, launched the persecution of Falun Dafa. Police officers ransacked my house.

When my wife and other practitioners went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Dafa, they were detained in a police department for over a month. Not only that, they extorted money from us and demanded that we give up Falun Dafa. I feared that I would lose everything and stopped practicing Dafa.

Returning to my Faith

Although I didn't study the Fa or practice the exercises, I read all the new lectures. This was more out of curiosity, as I no longer lived by the Dafa standards of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I turned into an ordinary person. My wife asked me to resume practicing Dafa, but I refused to listen.

Then, at the beginning of 2016 when I was surfing the internet, I broke through the Chinese internet firewall. I listened to a series of radio programs of practitioners recalling Master's compassion. That really got to me, and I broke out in tears.

“Master,” I said in my mind, “will you still take me as your practitioner? Do I have enough time to return to Dafa?” I clearly heard in my mind that I still had the opportunity, as long as the Fa-rectification was not over. I decided to practice Dafa again.

Forbearance

After I resumed my cultivation, I ran into a problem with the person who managed our materials. He yelled at me, but I remembered that Master said, “To be a practitioner you should, for starters, be able to 'not hit back when attacked, not talk back when insulted'. You have to endure.” (Zhuan Falun)

I said that we were only talking and that it was not worth getting angry about. But instead of simmering down, he got angrier. Master said, “But, usually when a conflict comes along, if it doesn’t provoke you, it doesn’t count, it doesn’t work, and you won’t be able to improve from it.” (Zhuan Falun)

Then, the conflict worsened and the manager insulted me in front of others.

Master said,

“I’d say that’s not good enough. Maybe later on you’ll be slapped in the face a couple times in front of the very person you least want to lose face around, and that’s to humiliate you, to see how you handle it, and to see whether you can endure it.” (Zhuan Falun)

I reminded myself that I was a practitioner and should follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance all the time. I did not fight and said nothing. He went on and on for over 10 minutes—until he was tired.

If I had not been a practitioner, I would not have let him insult me like that. I was the project manager, I was his boss. In a conflict, I would have come out ahead.

Master said,

“... you’re the one who suffered a lot, so your own karma will get transformed. You paid the price, so however much you’ve borne, that’s how much gets transformed, and it all turns into virtue.” (Zhuan Falun)

I had kidney stones, and sometimes I was in such pain that I rolled around on the ground. After that incident, however, I felt that, because I'd improved my xinxing, Master purified my body. It felt as if my kidney stones had been removed. Yet, the one who yelled at me had to be hospitalized and have his kidney stones surgically removed.

The principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are the measure of whether one is good or bad. What one does determines what one receives. I understood better when Master talked about “transforming karma.”

For a Practitioner, Nothing Happens by Chance

My friend and I started a renovation company. Before that, someone reneged on one of his projects and he didn't get paid. He decided to go to the labor department to ask for help. He was told to bring the materials as proof and also needed to have the person in charge of the project show up. He said he only trusted me, but I had not been involved in that project. He insisted, worrying that someone else would make matters worse, so I agreed to do what I could.

In my mind, I only thought one thing: “I'm a Falun Dafa practitioner, I have to live by the principles Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.” On my way to the labor department, I kept sending righteous thoughts. I waited in line. When it was my turn, I asked for Master's help and knew that I would get it done but I wouldn't lie.

When the officer asked me, I told him that I was not the one in charge. They told me that, in principle, they could not take the case. I told them that everything they needed was documented and they could verify anything with a phone call. They thought for a while and asked for my identification card. They photocopied it, took my picture, and I signed as a representative sent by someone in charge. Eventually they told me that all the materials were complete and all I had to do was wait for the ruling. I understood that, for a practitioner, nothing happens by chance.
