Just Two Years after Serving Over Three Years for Her Faith, Shenyang Woman Sentenced to Four Years

Oct. 12, 2019 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) A woman in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, was sentenced to four years in prison for practicing Falun Gong, just two years after she finished serving three-and-a-half years for the same reason.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Gao Jingqun, 50, was arrested on October 12, 2018. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong materials and computer. She was taken to Shenyang City Detention Center the next day.

The Shenhe District Procuratorate approved Ms. Gao's arrest on November 16, 2018. She appeared in the Shenhe District Court on August 8, 2019, and was convicted.

She has filed an appeal with the Shenyang City Intermediate Court.

Ms. Gao began to practice Falun Gong in November 1998. She credits the practice for curing her stomach problem and skin condition. She also became more gentle and easygoing.

With the onset of the persecution, Ms. Gao was repeatedly targeted for her faith. She was arrested on August 30, 2013, by officers who deceived her into opening the door by pretending to be from the local gas company. During the interrogation at the local police station, they hit her in the chest with water bottles and she almost suffocated. She was sentenced to three-and-a-half years on May 11, 2015, also by the Shenhe District Court.
