(Minghui.org) A Changsha City, Hunan Province, man has been incarcerated for ten months and is facing indictment for his faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Yang Jun, 47, was first arrested on February 2, 2018, after the police suspected him of writing “Falun Dafa is good” in a public area. The police ransacked his home without a search warrant. His Falun Gong books, computer, printer, and other personal belongings were confiscated.
Mr. Yang denied having written the message and said he wasn’t aware of it.
The police submitted Mr. Yang’s case to the Kaifu District Procuratorate on March 13, 2018, but the prosecutor refused to approve his arrest. He was released on bail that day, with his sister as the guarantor, after being held for 38 days in the Changsha City No. 2 Detention Center.
The police, however, didn’t give up persecuting Mr. Yang.
He Qing, an officer from the Xiangyalu Police Station, has been constantly harassing Mr. Yang’s sister and demanding that she pressure Mr. Yang into pleading guilty. Officer He said that Mr. Yang would face eight months to three years in prison if he didn’t plead guilty. He also demanded that Mr. Yang’s sister turn in the title of her house, in an attempt to prevent Mr. Yang from fleeing the area. She didn't comply but has started to complain about the trouble her brother has brought her.
On November 21, 2018, officers He and Min Feng brought Mr. Yang to the police station and forced him to sign a list of items confiscated from his home. The officers submitted Mr. Yang’s case to the Furong District Procuratorate that afternoon.
While driving Mr. Yang home, officer He called Mr. Yang's sister and demanded to know when she would turn in a copy of her house title.
Mr. Yang filed a complaint against the police with the Changsha City Procuratorate Report Center, before he was taken back into custody in late February 2019.
For refusing to give up his faith, Mr. Yang has been repeatedly arrested and detained over the past 20 years. He was also fired from his job.
