Six Falun Gong Practitioners Targeted in a Group Arrest Remain in Custody and Face Further Prosecution for Their Faith

Feb. 1, 2019 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Jilin Province, China

(Minghui.org) Twelve Falun Gong practitioners in Shulan City were arrested in one night last year for refusing to renounce their faith. Six of them are still held captive after more than six months of detention. The police are preparing to submit their cases to Shulan City Procuratorate for a third time after the cases had been rejected twice for insufficient evidence.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual practice with meditative exercises and three core principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. It has been persecuted by the communist regime since 1999 due to its immense popularity.

The police monitored the practitioners for about a year before orchestrating the group arrests on July 18, 2018. Most of the practitioners found out during interrogation that police had recorded their daily conversations about Falun Gong.

Mr. Xu Hongyu, Mr. Wang Zhigang and Mr. Sun Dongwei are currently detained at Nanshan Detention Center in Shulan City.

Ms. Li Fengjuan, Ms. Li Fengling and Ms. Qu Xiumin are held at Xiaobaishan Detention Center in Jilin City, which is about 60 miles away from Shulan.

The practitioners' arrests and detention left their families with tremendous distress and hardship.

Ms. Li Fengjuan's father-in-law, in his 80s, was terrified by the police brutality during her arrest. He suffered a stroke and is now bedridden.

Mr. Sun's wife was hospitalized twice after he was arrested. Her physical condition has rendered her unable to take care of herself and their eighth grader.

Mr. Wang's parents, nearly 70, are also longing for his release.
