(Minghui.org) Master Li Hongzhi said:
“The awakened esteem what is beyond this worldThe devout cultivator sets his heart on ConsummationWhen great is the ordeal, keep steadfastThe will to be diligent never bowed”(“Steadfast,” Hong Yin Vol. II, Translation Version A)
I am humbled by Master Li's compassion and by what Master endures for us. Time can wear out one's enthusiasm, but it cannot wash away one's steadfast will to study the Fa and cultivate. In the course of cultivation, we must completely remove all of our bad thoughts and behaviors and cast off attachments.
During the current stage of our cultivation, we will be tempted by things such as TVs, computers, and smartphones. If we fail to conduct ourselves well when using these alien devices, they can become a form of interference.
Master said:
“This is aliens’ technology, and demons are utilizing it to get you hooked, get you to abandon everything you have, and have you devote yourself to it. It’s wasting your life, yet you are loath to put it down! Even from the perspective of being human you are not right, let alone in cultivation.” (“Fa Teaching at the 2016 New York Fa Conference”)
When I study the Fa, I remind myself that I must focus on what I am reading and dismiss any interference by distracting thoughts or alien devices. If my main consciousness is strong, I will not be affected. We must concentrate on learning the Fa with our hearts.
Master said:
“The only way to gain a good understanding of Dafa is to study it without any intention.” (“Learning the Fa,” Essentials for Further Advancement)
From this, I understand that while studying the Fa, one should not have any pursuit and should just study with a clear mind. Through consistent Fa study, one can discern which thoughts should be kept and which should be discarded. We will then instinctively know what we should and shouldn’t do, and how to behave when faced with conflicts.
With frequent Fa-study and cultivation, Master and righteous gods will help us eliminate our attachments and improve in every way.
Master said:
“In genuine cultivation practice one must cultivate one’s own heart and inner self. One should search inside oneself rather than outside.” (Lecture Nine, Zhuan Falun)
“A person is like a container, and he is what he contains. If he contains Fa, he has assimilated to the Fa; if he’s filled with dirt, he is dirt.” (Teaching the Fa at the Conference in Singapore)
In my understanding, both hand-copying and memorizing the Fa are of great benefit and can reinforce the teachings in our minds. The process of memorizing the Fa can eliminate bad thoughts and external interference as well. It can guide our actions to naturally meet the requirements for practitioners.
Why do we tend to add or miss words when memorizing or hand-copying the Fa? I think it's because our main consciousness is not strong enough, or elements such as thought karma and human attachments are interfering with us.
No matter what interference there is, I will never give up memorizing the Fa!
