Feb. 9, 2019 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Shandong Province, China

(Minghui.org) A Qingdao City resident was recently handed down a three-year prison sentence for his faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance that has been persecuted by the communist regime since 1999.

Mr. Huang Genji was arrested on June 6, 2018, days before the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit was held in Qingdao, Shandong Province on June 9-10, 2018.

Many Falun Gong practitioners in Qingdao and nearby regions were arrested and harassed prior to the summit as the police attempted to prevent them from posting information in public areas to raise awareness about the persecution.

The police spent eight hours searching and ransacking Mr. Huang's residence. His Falun Gong books, computers and printers were confiscated. The police held his personal items at Wangcun Police Station and said that they would return them after Mr. Huang is released.

Mr. Huang was held at Pudong Detention Center in Jimo District. The Jimo District Court held a hearing for him at the detention center on November 26. The judge released the verdict two months later.

Mr. Huang has appealed against the sentence.
