Senior Practitioners Must Let Go of Human Notions

March 7, 2019 |   By Hui Hui, a Falun Dafa practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) My mother was a Falun Dafa practitioner who lost her life because of illness karma. I would like to share with elderly practitioners what I have observed and hope that it will benefit them.

Fundamental Attachment to Illness

Many senior practitioners began to practice Falun Dafa to have their illnesses healed. It does not matter how long we have cultivated, we should always ask ourselves if we have let go of our fundamental attachment to illness. If we are healthy now, it does not mean that we have given up our attachments. Our xinxingelevation is reflected in our cultivation in different dimensions.

Some senior disciples still cling to ordinary people's notions, such as: “What foods are hard to digest? What foods chill the stomach?” “Dress warmly or you might catch a cold” And so on. These trivial ideas demonstrate a fear of getting sick.

Practitioners should look at everything based on the Fa to understand issues and eliminate human notions. We should not take such petty things seriously. If we do not search inside and we allow issues to pile up until we do not even notice them, these issues eventually will bring us down.

Not Searching Inside

Some elderly practitioners study the Fa diligently, but they do not search inside. When encountering issues, they tend to look externally and rely on fellow practitioners to point out their issues.

As time goes by, they make little progress. Cultivation depends on oneself. Practitioners must enlighten to the Fa before they can genuinely elevate on their cultivation path.

Lacking Sufficient Righteous Thoughts

Some elderly practitioners are easily driven by ordinary people's sentiments: They long for their children to visit, they are sentimentally attached to their grandchildren, they meddle in their children's conflicts, they judge who's right or wrong, and so on.

If they don't feel well, they are relieved when the problem is minor. If it is severe, they get depressed, write their will, prepare for death, and forget that they are practitioners. They fail to use righteous thoughts to tackle problems and do not genuinely believe in Dafa and Teacher. They cannot completely negate the old forces and hence let the old forces use their loopholes and take their lives.

I believe these were not just my mother's problems—they are common among some elderly practitioners. I hope this article will inspire them to get rid of their human notions.
