(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 12 provinces, where at least 31 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Chen Xiuhua and Ms. Yan Chunhua were arrested by officers from the Lianxing Town Police Station on April 24, 2019, for distributing informational DVDs about the persecution of Falun Gong. They were taken to the Shuangcheng Police Department by four officers, including director Zeng Qingyuan (曾庆元). Both women were later transferred to the Harbin City Detention Center.
Ms. Zhao Shujie was arrested by officers from the Hexinglu Police Station on April 23.
Ms. Cao Guiqing was arrested on November 9, 2018, and was tried by the Harbin Railway Transport Court on April 26, 2019.

Mr. Lin Jinli was arrested by officers from the Lihua Police Station in the Daowai District on April 23, 2019, and his home was ransacked. He is being held in the Harbin No. 2 Detention Center.
Ms. Li Yinghui, who was arrested along with Mr. Lin, was held for 15 days in the Harbin Detention House.
Xiao Wang, from Yonghe Village in the Shuangcheng District, was arrested by officers from the Dongfeng Police Station on April 23, 2019, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.
Ms. Lan Lihua was diagnosed with a breast tumor while detained in the Shenyang No. 1 Detention Center. When her family learned of her condition on April 26, 2019, they called the detention center to request for her to receive treatment, but it was denied.

Ms. Yu Chunxiang was transferred from the Yaojia Detention Center to a prison on April 23, 2019. Her family was not informed. Three other practitioners were also imprisoned on the same day.
Ms. Wu Donghong was harassed at home by officers from the Nanjiang Police Department on April 16, 2019. She was arrested two days later and her was home ransacked. The police confiscated Falun Gong books, cell phones, and paper bills with information about Falun Gong written on them.
Ms. Wu is being held in the Tanggu No. 1 Detention Center.
Mr. Zhao Zhijun and an elderly practitioner were arrested on April 25, 2019, for distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. They were taken to the Dongyaozi Town Police Station.
The elderly practitioner was released, while Mr. Zhao's whereabouts are unknown.
Mr. Wang Xudong was recently sentenced to a nine-year prison term after being detained for almost a year.
Mr. Tang Wanjian was arrested on his way home by officers from the Tangxia Town Police Station on April 18, 2019. The police ransacked his residence and confiscated Falun Gong books, informational materials, and other personal belongings.
Mr. Tang is being held in the Louqiao Police Station.
Ms. Xuan Xiaomei, Ms. Wei Juan, and Ms. Zhu Peiqin were arrested by officers from the Fengqiao Police Station on April 26, 2019.
Ms. Luo Jianrong and Ms. Yao Aiying were arrested at Ms. Luo's home by a dozen officers from Nancheng County on April 21, 2019.
Ms. Xia Huanzhen, 70, was arrested for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was detained in the Ankang Hospital, and later sentenced to a one-year prison term.
Ms. Xia was transferred to the Baofenglu Women's Prison in Wuhan City. She has since been released.
Mr. Gao Minghui was arrested in March 2019, and is being held in the Zunyi City No. 2 Detention Center.
Mr. Cao Junjian was arrested on April 23, 2019.
Disabled Ms. Wei Yuhong was arrested on June 14, 2017, and was tried by the Daxing District Court on January 29, 2018. Officers Zhu Shiqing and Xing Zhenqiao from the Guanyinsi Police Station fabricated evidence against her.
Ms. Wei’s lawyer was told to pick up his client’s verdict at the court on April 11, 2019. The verdict, dated November 16, 2018, stated that Ms. Wei had been sentenced to three years in prison and fined 6000 yuan. The prison term is due to end on June 13, 2020.
Mr. Zhang Qingshan, 65, was secretly tried and sentenced to 18 months in prison. He was recently taken to the Tiantanghe Ward of Beijing Prison.
Staff from the Weidu District Court went to the Xuchang Detention Center and illegally tried Ms. Li Junqing, 66, on April 4, 2019. Only two of Ms. Li’s family members were allowed to sit in on the trial that lasted less than 20 minutes. A verdict was not announced.
Mr. Yu Rongxin was sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in prison and fined 30,000 yuan on December 28, 2018. His wife Ms. Xie Qing was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years and fined 25,000 yuan. The couple appealed to the Jiangmen Intermediate Court, but their original sentences were upheld. Their families were not notified.
Mr. Yu is incarcerated in the Beijiang Prison in Shaoguan City, while Ms. Xie is incarcerated in the Guangdong Provincial Women’s Prison, Baiyun District, Guangzhou City.
Ms. Gu Xiuhua, Ms. Zhang Sanman and Ms. Tan Chunrong, from Shihe Town in the Jinzhou District, were taken to the Liaoning Women’s Prison on April 23, 2019.
Ms. Gu was sentenced to four years in prison, while Ms. Zhang and Ms. Tan were both sentenced to three years and eight months in prison.
Ms. Tian Lili was arrested on August 23, 2018, and has been held in the Shenyang Detention Center. The Shenhe District Procuratorate had returned her case back to the police department twice due to a lack of evidence. The police then fabricated further “evidence” to prosecute her.
Ms. Tian's case has recently been submitted to the Shenhe District Court.
