May 6, 2019 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Heilongjiang Province, China

(Minghui.org) Mr. Zhang Fuhai from Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested on March 20, 2017, and tried on December 26, 2017. He was sentenced to a 2-year-and-10-month prison term in June 2018, and taken to the Fengtun Prison on November 29, 2018.

Known Details about Mr. Zhang's Torture

Li Yanwei and Yue Xiaowei, two prison guards assigned to torture Mr. Zhang, shocked him with an electric baton in the supervision room on the north side of the division office, No. 2 Ward, between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on January 25, 2019.

The reason for the torture was that Mr. Zhang apparently refused to perform labor. Prior to his arrival at the prison, unidentified personnel twisted and injured his arm. His arm became itchy and numb, and he was unable to operate the machines in the workshop.

Li shocked Mr. Zhang with an electric baton for 10 minutes, and Yue sprayed his face with pepper spray. After a 10-minute break, the second round of abuse started. Mr. Zhang was taken to the supervision room again. This time Wang Li, head of the division, joined the two guards to beat him.

Li ordered Mr. Zhang to take off his clothes before he started to shock him with an electric baton. After Li shocked Mr. Zhang several times, Wang slapped his face more than a dozen times. Wang then shocked Mr. Zhang's head and neck several times. After that, Li took the electric baton and shocked Mr. Zhang for several more minutes. They threatened Mr. Zhang that electric shocks would be used every day if he did not perform labor. Then Mr. Zang was forced to stand for four hours.

Hou Yanbin, political head, ordered Mr. Zhang to do odd jobs that afternoon, repairing and patching sweaters. Mr. Zhang is now forced to work every day.

The prison officials have not allowed his family to visit him, nor make deposits into his prison account, which is necessary for buying daily essentials.
