(Minghui.org) A 51-year-old teacher serving three years in prison is being tortured and denied family visits for not renouncing her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wang Guixia, a resident of Wuhan City, Hubei Province, was arrested on March 7, 2018 after she was reported for talking to students about Falun Gong.
Ms. Wang appeared in Xinzhou District Court on March 4, 2019 after one year of detention at Wuhan No.1 Detention Center. She testified in her own defense, but the judge accused her of being “stubborn” and “openly promoting Falun Gong.” The judge sentenced her to three years in Wuhan Women's Prison.
Because she refused to renounce her faith, prison guards forced Ms. Wang to sleep on the concrete floor without bedding. They didn't allow her to use a fan, let alone air conditioning, when the temperature was nearly 105°F.
The prison denied her visitation and claimed that they wouldn't release her even after her term expires should she still hold firm to her faith in Falun Gong.
Two prison guards visited her husband at the end of June and attempted to pressure him to persuade Ms. Wang to change her mind.
Ms. Wang began to practice Falun Gong since 2013. She credits the practice for curing her Hepatitis B. For sharing her story about the benefits of practicing Falun Gong, she was arrested several times.
In addition to Ms. Wang, several other Falun Gong practitioners, including Ms. Zhu Ya, Ms. Feng Yunqing, and Ms. Cai Rufen, are being denied visitation for not giving up their faith.
