Aug. 2, 2019 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) An 80-year-old resident of Shenyang City, Liaoning Province was arrested on July 26, 2019, for not renouncing her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

This is the fourth time that Ms. Chu Zhimei has been arrested for practicing Falun Gong.

Ms. Chu Zhimei

Ms. Chu is a retired accountant. She took up Falun Gong in 1996. Her uterine fibroids and other ailments soon disappeared.

After the communist regime began to persecute Falun Gong, Ms. Chu went to Beijing to appeal for her faith on October 12, 1999, and was arrested. She was taken back to Shenyang four days later and then released. The police often harassed her at home and attempted to force her to give up Falun Gong.

Ms. Chu and her family were enjoying their dinner on the Chinese New Year's eve on February 4, 2000, when the police came and sat on their sofa to watch them. Her husband fell ill soon due to the mental pressure and later passed away.

Ms. Chu was arrested for the second time on September 24, 2007, when she was distributing Falun Gong informational materials. She was detained for 41 days before being released.

She was arrested again on March 24, 2009, while talking to people about her faith. She appeared in Dadong District Court on September 26, 2009, but details about her verdict remain to be investigated.
