Liaoning Woman Indicted for Her Faith in Falun Gong

Aug. 21, 2019 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) A woman in Fushun City, Liaoning Province, is facing trial for not renouncing her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Huang Keqin, 55, was arrested on the evening of April 25, 2019, while hanging up a banner that said, “Falun Dafa is good.” More than two dozen officers from Liushan Police Station ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books.

She was taken to Fushun City Detention Center the next day and her arrest was approved by Dongzhou Procuratorate nine days later.

When her family went to the police station to demand her release, the officers said that they were only following orders from the Domestic Security Division to arrest her and that they were not in charge of her case.

When Ms. Huang's family went to the Domestic Security Division, security personnel stopped them at the entrance and didn't let them talk to anyone inside.

Her family later hired a lawyer to represent her.

She was indicted by Dongzhou Procuratorate on August 9 and is now facing trial.

Ms. Huang began to practice Falun Gong before the communist regime ordered the persecution in 1999. She credits the practice for curing her rheumatism and other ailments. She also became more kind and considerate. She took good care of her bedridden mother-in-law until she passed away at the age of 90.

Because of appealing for Falun Gong in Beijing in October 1999, Ms. Huang was arrested and detained for 15 days.

The police arrested her again in October 2000 and sent her to a forced labor camp for three years. Meanwhile, her employer was pressured by the authorities to fire her. She was separated from her seven-year-old son.

The stress of dealing with the persecution of his wife, financial constraints, and having to take care of their son by himself took a toll on her husband's health.
