(Minghui.org) Three Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province residents were arrested on October 7, 2017 for not renouncing their faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
One year after the three practitioners appeared in Nanshan District Court on August 9, 2018, the Nanshan District Procuratorate dropped the charges against Ms. Dou Jun, after deciding that the evidence provided by the police wasn't enough to indict her.
The 65-year-old woman was released from Nanshan District Detention Center on August 16, 2019.
On the same day, the Nanshan District Court also announced the prison sentences of the other two practitioners arrested together with Ms. Dou.
Mr. Yang Bo was given a heavy term of eight years and his wife, Ms. Xiao Yin, chief financial officer of a foreign-based company, was sentenced to two years.
Mr. Yang's 75-year-old mother, Ms. Geng Liangjun, frequented the detention center and court to seek justice for her son and daughter-in-law, while caring for the couple's 13-year-old daughter in the past two years. She recently suffered a stroke as a result of both physical and mental distress.
