(Minghui.org) Ms. Yi Xiaoqin was among the 35 Falun Gong practitioners arrested across Liaoning Province on July 10 and 11, 2019 for not renouncing their faith.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
The police claimed that the arrests were made in order to “maintain social stability” prior to the 70th anniversary of the Chinese communist regime's rule.
Five plainclothes officers broke into Ms. Yi's home in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province at 3 p.m. on July 10. They ransacked her house and confiscated her mother Ms. Zhang Yabin's ID, salary card and bus pass.
When Ms. Zhang demanded to know the officers' names, one of them showed her his police ID, which said he was Jin Nanchun from the Shenyang City Police Department.
But when Ms. Zhang, who lives with her daughter, went to the police department to demand her daughter's release later on, she was told that they didn't have an officer called Jin Nanchun. The police department also denied having ever arrested her daughter.
Ms. Zhang is now left in the dark as to her daughter's whereabouts.
This isn't the first time that Ms. Yi has been targeted for her faith.
She and her mother, also a Falun Gong practitioner, were arrested on December 17, 2013 and held at the Shenyang City Detention Center.
Ms. Zhang was later sentenced to nine months by the Huanggu District Court and released on September 16, 2014.
Ms. Yi was sentenced to four years in Liaoning Women's Prison by the same court on January 16, 2015. She returned home on October 16, 2017.
