Falun Gong Practitioner Recounts Torture in Jiangxi Women's Prison

Sept. 12, 2019 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Jiangxi Province, China

(Minghui.org) A resident of Yichun City, Jiangxi Province, was arrested on April 23, 2016, for talking to middle school students about how Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline, has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Wang Tuanyuan was later sentenced to three years and sent to Jiangxi Women's Prison in December 2016.

The prison tortured her in attempts to force her to give up her faith. They deprived her of sleep and use of the restroom, beat her, hung her up, starved her, and exposed her to the smoke of mosquito coils.

Below is an excerpt of Ms. Wang's personal account of what she endured in the prison.

I was forced to stand up for 18 hours, from 6 am to midnight, the day after I got to the prison. The standing torture continued for more than 20 days and caused my legs to swell.

In January 2017, an inmate told me I could avoid the torture by writing a statement to renounce Falun Gong. I refused to.

Then they made me sit on a tiger bench for three days. The tiger bench was more like a daybed with a tall back. They kept my upper body and hands tied to the tall back, my legs straighten and restrained on the bench and my feet over a pile of bricks. The pain in my stretched muscles was unbearable.

In April, guard Chen Qi asked me a lot of questions. When she didn’t like my answers, she rationed my food and I only got a small bowl of rice for each meal.

She also took my warm clothes away so that I would freeze.

Chen Qi launched a brainwashing campaign to try to “transform” us on December 17, 2018.

When I refused to write the statement to renounce Falun Gong, Chen and three inmates handcuffed my hands behind the back and tied them to the upper post of a bunk bed. They then roped my feet together and tied them to the upper post of another bunk bed.

I was left hanging, face down, between two bunk beds.

The scars from the torture are still visible on my hands and my arms hurt even now.
