(Minghui.org) A Dalian City, Liaoning Province resident was recently imprisoned to serve a three-year term for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Wang Sumian, 68, was arrested on May 24, 2018 at Lushun Police Station after she went there to urge the police not to participate in the persecution. The police ransacked her home and sent her to Yaojia Detention Center on the next day.

The Lushun Procuratorate later approved her arrest.

Ms. Wang appeared in Lushunkou District Court on November 21, 2018 and was sentenced to three years in prison on June 21, 2019. She appealed to the intermediate court, which upheld the original verdict.

She was sent to Liaoning Women’s Prison on November 19, 2019.

Prior to her latest arrest, Ms. Wang was arrested on December 22, 2016 after being reported for mailing letters to the public about Falun Gong. The police confiscated all the letters and Falun Gong materials in her purse, and held her in custody for five days.
