(Minghui.org) A Xiaogan City, Hubei Province, resident recently filed an appeal to protest her three-year prison sentence for practicing Falun Gong, an ancient spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Wang Guilan, around 74, was arrested on September 19, 2019, by officers waiting outside her home. Her latest arrest came only one year after she finished serving another two years and five months for her faith.

The police interrogated her in the evening and sent her to Hanchuan Detention Center the next day.

When her daughter went to the Domestic Security Division on November 1 to demand her release, she was told that Ms. Wang’s case has been submitted to the procuratorate. She hired a lawyer to represent Ms. Wang.

After the lawyer visited Ms. Wang at the detention center on November 19, he went to Xiaochang County Procuratorate to inquire about her case on the same day. He was told that Ms. Wang had been indicted and her case forwarded to Xiaochang County Court.

The lawyer met with the judge in charge of her case and reviewed her case document on December 10.

Ms. Wang appeared in court on December 26. The lawyer entered a not guilty plea for her.

She was sentenced to three years two days later. She submitted her appeal on January 5, 2020.
