(Minghui.org) Many wonderful things have happened during the over 20 years I have practiced Falun Dafa. I would like to relate how my husband went from being afraid of the persecution to accepting the practice to finally supporting Dafa when the authorities were present.
A community police officer called in April 2018 to ask if I was practicing Falun Gong, (also called Falun Dafa). My husband said I was not.
When I came home, he had an odd expression and sounded annoyed. “The police called and asked if you were still practicing,” he told me.
When I found out what he’d told the police, I was concerned. “You can’t say that I’m not practicing. That means I’m being unfaithful to Master Li, the founder of Falun Dafa, and Dafa! I’ve never thought of quitting throughout these 20 years of persecution, and I never will. We should be thankful that Dafa gave me health!”
“I know you’re not quitting. I just don’t want you to be arrested—and I want them to leave us alone,” he replied.
I reminded him that Master said, “Haven’t I said that with one person practicing, the whole family benefits?” (Teaching the Fa at the Fa Conference in Australia)
“Your stomach issues are gone and you don’t have a herniated disc anymore. You had major problems at work, and they were eventually resolved. You were grateful for Master’s protection because you too benefited from me practicing. We can’t betray Dafa because of the police. That would bring us bad karma! You should speak up for Dafa and not do things to harm Master or Dafa. I must clear things up for everyone’s sake.”
I asked my husband to find the officer’s phone number. He refused to, and he did not want me to call either. “I will talk to the officer in person then,” I said.
Seeing that he couldn’t stop me, he gave me the phone number. I told him not to worry, that I would be polite.
The officer answered and I explained why I was calling, “There is no way I would quit practicing Falun Gong.” He interrupted and said he wanted to pay me a visit. I said, “I don’t want to trouble you since you are very busy. I will come to your office.”
I went to the police station the next day and was directed to his office.
“My husband cannot represent me,” I said. He got up and suggested we talk in another room. “There is no surveillance camera in this room,” he explained after we entered the other room.
“Falun Dafa is so important to me. There is no way I would quit. If it were not for the practice, I probably would have died from uremia. Do you think there is a cure for uremia? As you can tell, I’m healthy now.”
“Yes, I see that,” he said and then asked if I knew a particular practitioner. I said I knew of the person but had no contact with him. He said they were friends, so he knew about Falun Dafa and the persecution.
I asked if he had renounced the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). He did not respond but said, “I’m going to tell you something and then you’ll understand. If everyone practiced Falun Dafa, there would be no need for police.
“Please let me know if you need any help,” he added. I was glad that he knew about Falun Dafa and thanked him.
I recounted the meeting to my husband and he seemed more relaxed. I told him I recited one of Master’s poems on my way to the police station.
“Should you have fear,it will seize upon youIf thoughts are righteous, evil will collapseThe cultivator’s mindis loaded with FaSend righteous thoughts, and rotten demons explodeGods walk the earth, validating the Fa” (“What’s to Fear?” Hong Yin Vol. II, Translation Version A)
Master will take care of us as long as we have righteous thoughts, and the bad substances will not be able to affect us.
My husband received another phone call in April 2019. That time I was home. I heard him say, “We are older now, and our health is more important, so why wouldn’t she practice?”
I had a feeling it was the police station and my husband confirmed it, saying, “This time I told them you are still practicing.” Indeed, I strive to be a good person and should continue to practice in an upright manner.
The next call came from the community affairs office in December 2019. They said the municipal Political and Legal Affairs Committee had ordered them to call anyone who practiced Falun Dafa and wanted me to come to their office.
I said I would go, and my husband wanted to accompany me. “As long as we are honest and straightforward, there is nothing to be afraid of, because one righteous mind can subdue one hundred evils,” I said to encourage him.
We talked on our way to the community office, and I noticed he had changed. He used to worry and feel helpless when the authorities harassed us. This time he was talking and laughing.
The secretary was waiting for us and asked if I was still practicing Falun Dafa.
My husband jumped in ahead before I could open my mouth: “Can you believe that her uremia is gone after learning the practice, and she has not taken any medication since then. She has not used her health insurance, either.”
The secretary responded, “You can say whatever you want. But the government is calling it a cult and does not allow anyone to practice it.”
I explained, “There are 14 practices that are designated ‘cults’ by the Ministry of Public Security, and Falun Dafa is not one of them. You can do an internet search and find out for yourself. It is illegal to persecute Falun Dafa, and those who do will be held accountable. Falun Dafa is based on Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. Don’t you think our society would improve if people followed those principles? And wouldn’t that, in turn, make your jobs as managers of the community easier? You can ask anyone in our district.”
She said that it would be fine if I did the exercises at home and didn’t talk about it in public.
I reminded her that conversations like ours, about the benefits of practicing Dafa, were my personal experiences and that, if anyone asked how I became healthy, I would tell them about Falun Dafa. I didn’t think that was considered advertising. The secretary responded that she had failed to do her job, which was persuading me to quit.
She wanted to take pictures of us to prove that we came by the office. My husband and I both refused to allow it and got up to leave.
“Alright,” she said, “then why don’t you sign your name on this form?” I did not sign it and explained that she would be held accountable in the future for participating in the persecution if I signed the document.
She gave up and said, “I really don’t like having to deal with things like this.”
My husband commented that she seemed to be a nice person and would be rewarded for her good deeds. We parted amicably.
I could tell my husband was no longer fearful. My family has suffered tremendously over the past 20 years. But it is our responsibility as practitioners to reawaken their sense of right and wrong and help them understand that goodness always triumphs over evil. Encourage them to resist the persecution and let others know that Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!
