(Minghui.org) I used to think that only ordinary people should chant the phrase, “Falun Dafa Is Good” and “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance Is Good.” Recently, I was enlightened that Falun Dafa practitioners should recite the phrases, too. 

At the beginning, I just repeated the phrases mechanically without much feeling or righteous thoughts. I then began to ask myself why is it that an ordinary person can have his ailment healed by reciting the phrases? And if “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” are the characteristics of the universe, how should I assimilate to them?

Master said, 

“From the perspective of the very highest level, it is very simple, for the Fa resembles a pyramid in form. At the highest point, it can be summarized in three words: Zhen, Shan, Ren. It is extremely complex when manifesting at different levels.” (Lecture One, Zhuan Falun)

What are these words manifesting at the level that I am at? I looked at every matter to compare myself to the three words. I gradually enlightened to more principles and more deeply.

I had trouble sleeping sometimes because human thoughts occupied my mind. I found that if I silently recited the phrases my mind would clear, and I could quickly fall asleep. 

My husband also recited the phrases and experienced physical changes.

From our experiences, we had first-hand understandings about how powerful these phrases are. When our minds change, our behavior changes accordingly. This is what Master said, 

“...matter and mind are one thing.” (Lecture One, Zhuan Falun)

My first understanding was that I have to be truthful because only a genuine practitioner can enlighten to the Way. If I can’t be truthful, I would be the same as the old practitioner described in the story “The Lament of “Untruthfulness,”which was published on the Minghui website.

My second understanding was about the cultivation of Forbearance (Ren). It is the most difficult of the three characters for me since I have a short temper and would often erupt over small things. 

A situation happened a few days ago that let me gain a better understanding of Forbearance.

My mother-in-law’s house was old and needed remodeling, so my husband and I hired several workers for the project and we also helped out. 

My mother-in-law has never been a likable person. Even her own children don’t get along well with her. The day we went to help her remodel her home, she made a big fuss and refused to move her bed outside because she said her bed might get wet. I remembered Forbearance and didn’t say a word. 

That night I thought about the incident again and began to understand that a low level life has deviated further from the characteristics of the universe, but a high level life is closer to the characteristic. Should I be a life far from the characteristic of the universe? No, I have to do well with Forbearance and ascend to a higher level.

Master said, 

“If you hate that person, aren’t you upset? You have not followed forbearance. We practice Zhen-Shan-Ren, and you would have even less compassion so to speak of. ” (Lecture Four, Zhuan Falun)

And, 

“...your tone of voice, your kindheartedness, and your reasoning can change a person’s heart” (“Clearheadedness”, Essentials For Further Advancement)

Master has explained the topic of upgrading xinxing from different perspectives. In “Transformation of Karma” in Zhuan Falun it is explained from the perspective of the practitioner. Whereas, in the section “Upgrading Xinxing” in Zhuan Falun it is explained from the perspective of the other party.

Master said, 

“Whenever you encounter a problem, you should first consider whether others can put up with this matter or if it will hurt anyone.” (Lecture Four, Zhuan Falun) 

A life that conforms to Dafa will be absolutely altruistic. We are cultivating to consummate at a very high level. In comparison, the matters in the human world all appear so trivial. 

We need to let go of all attachments and return to our divine home by following Master.
