(Minghui.org) After police in Honghu City, Hubei Province submitted cases against two local residents for their faith in Falun Gong, the Procuratorate instigated the police to re-open the old cases of three other Falun Gong practitioners, in attempts to frame the five of them in one case.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Xia Yun was arrested on September 4, 2019, while staying at her son’s home in Wuhan (about 80 miles from Honghu). She has since been detained at Jianli Detention Center.
The police arrested Ms. Wang Xinyu at her home in Honghu the next day. Her Falun Gong books, computer, printer, and cellphones were confiscated. Although she was released hours later, the authorities monitored Ms. Wang and harassed her from time to time. The police later submitted Ms. Xia and Ms. Wang’s cases to the Procuratorate.
While processing their cases, the prosecutor found an old case about the two woman and three other Honghu practitioners, Ms. Yang Zhihui, Ms. Su Xiao, and Ms. Xiong Zhengying. The five were arrested in May 2017 for distributing Falun Gong materials, and each detained for 15 days. The prosecutor said the punishment for the old cases was too light and vowed to re-evaluate the cases.
The police then summoned the other three practitioners to the police station for interrogation by threatening to put them on the wanted list if they didn’t show up. Shortly, the three practitioners’ cases were submitted to the Procuratorate.
The court scheduled to hear the practitioners’ case on June 8 and 10, 2020, but had to cancel it after the judge suddenly began to vomit and had blood in his stool on June 6.
