(Minghui.org) Despite Ms. Mao Shufen being scheduled for release on February 22, 2021 after serving four years for practicing Falun Gong, the prison guards and inmates are still torturing her for upholding her faith. Falun Gong is a traditional mind-body cultivation practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Mao, a Hulin City, Heilongjiang Province resident, was arrested on February 22, 2017 for distributing Falun Gong informational materials. She was sentenced to four years on April 24, 2018.
At Heilongjiang Women’s Prison, Ms. Mao was often forced to sit on a small stool without moving. Sometimes the inmates inserted a pen in a hole in the center of the stool and forced her to sit on it. At other times, they forced her to sit by an open window in the winter with the freezing wind blowing on her.
Once, an inmate tried to extort 3,000 yuan from Ms. Mao. After Ms. Mao refused, the inmate beat her, verbally abused her and forced her to sit on the stool. The inmate also forced Ms. Mao to perform unpaid labor, non-stop. She once fainted due to exhaustion. Yet the inmate forced her to continue working after she woke up.
As a result of the continual abuse in prison, Ms. Mao developed high blood pressure. The guards forced her to ingest unknown drugs and knocked out her teeth in the process. Later on, the inmates began to add drugs to her food and water.
At night, the inmates often woke Ms. Mao up to disturb her sleep. After her blood pressure further increased due to lack of sleep, the inmates used that as an excuse to force her to take drugs.
On January 3, 2021, Ms. Mao was transferred from Team Nine in the Eighth Ward to Team Twelve. The inmates there continued to monitor her, verbally abuse her, force her to sit on the small stool and force-feed her with unknown drugs.
