(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 20 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 47 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Li Yi, deputy secretary of the Xinhe Town Political and Legal Affairs Committee, led police officers and the Party secretary of Nangan Village to Mr. Yu Lixin’s home in Nangan Village and knocked on his door on December 25, 2020. Mr. Yu did not open the door. They then tried to break the lock but failed. They told him to sign paperwork through the window. He refused.
At 5:40 p.m. Li Yi called in firemen to break Mr. Yu’s windowpane with a hammer and broke into the home. They took Mr. Yu to a brainwashing center on the seventh floor of Vienna Hotel. Over a dozen security guards took turns to abuse him in different shifts. He returned home around 4 p.m. on December 27.
Ms. Shi Meilan, Ms. Yu Dezhen, Ms. Chen Xiuping, and Ms. Liu Cuimei from Huinong District was scheduled to be tried at the No. 1 Trial Chamber of Dawukou District Court on January 12, 2021.
After being held in custody for one year and four months, Ms. Dong Lijuan was sentenced to two years and ten months in prison.
Ms. Jing Jianqiu, in her 60s, and Ms. Zhao Xiyun from Shangjie District were arrested between July and August 2020. They were held in the No. 3 Detention Center. They were scheduled to be tried at the Zhongyuan District Intermediate Court on January 7, 2020.
Personnel from the Baileyuan Residential Committee, Changshengqiao Town, Nan’an District, called Mr. Duan Fanghe’s daughter on December 18, 2020. Mr. Duan is in his 70s. They told her to bring her father’s national ID card and household registration book to the committee to sign statements to give up practice. They threatened to detain her if she did not sign.
Luo Shiquan, head of Jianjiabian Village, Yinglong Town, Nan’an District, and two other people went to Ms. Zhang Guangxiu’s home on the afternoon of December 18. They pressured her to sign “transformation” statements to renounce her faith, but she refused.
They then found her son Mr. Chen Ping to persuade his mother to sign, but she still refused.
These people came back and pressured Ms. Zhang to sign paperwork. She still refused. Her son got angry, threatened her, and was on the verge of hitting her. Seeing her son had been driven mad, Ms. Zhang signed the paperwork.
Before that, police officers called and told her to go to the police station to install the WeChat social media app on her phone, which she refused.
Wu Niu, a Yuanjiazuo Village official, and Liu Changqing, an official of the Fuzuo Township government, Suning County, went to Ms. Yuan Huizhi’s home on November 19, 2020. They pressured her to sign paperwork to give up practicing Falun Gong.
They threatened to remove the sign of her son’s company if she did not sign. They said they would have the Bureau of Industry and Commerce shut down her son’s online shop.
Under coercion, Ms. Yuan signed the paperwork against her will. She later regretted it.
Officials from Fuzuo Township led by Guangde, an official of Fuzuo Village, went to Mr. Pei Wenhai’s home and harassed him on December 3.
Practitioner Shen Dongzhi (gender unknown) distributed Falun Gong materials around Inner Ring Road and placed a sheet in the police director’s car at the end of June 2020. The police brought in surveillance footage and tracked her through surveillance cameras for about 20 days.
She was arrested by officers from the Shunhe Police Department and the Pingguoyuan Police Station on July 19. Practitioners Zhang Qinghua (gender unknown) and Ms. Li Qiaoling were also arrested. The three practitioners were released on the same day or the following day and got home safely.
Ms. Dongye Guanglan from Hailin City was arrested by officers from the No. 1 Police Station while distributing Falun Gong materials on January 4, 2021. She was held in the Mudanjiang Detention Center for 15 days.
Mr. Wang Fengxian was arrested by officers from the Haiyang Domestic Security Division while distributing cards with a QR code to download software for circumventing internet censorship on November 10, 2020. He is being held in the Haiyang Detention Center. His case was turned over to the procuratorate.
Mr. Yao Chengda’s home was ransacked by officers from the Limin Police Station, Mishan City, in December 2020. Mr. Yao and his second daughter were taken to the police station for questioning and were subsequently released.
The homes of Ms. Yao Tiemei and Ms. Hou Baohua were also ransacked.
Ms. Zhang Meifang was reported to the police while talking to people about Falun Gong on October 9, 2020. The police searched her and took a Falun Gong keepsake and two cards with QR codes for circumventing internet censorship. She was then taken to the Yangting Town Police Station.
Around 2 p.m. the officers took her to the Liaowangdao Police Station and collected her fingerprints and blood samples. She was then taken back to the Yangting Police Station and placed under 10 days of detention. Due to the pandemic, the police released her after extorting her family out of 500 yuan.
Officers from the Handian Police Station, together with the Party secretary of the Handian Town Political and Legal Affairs Committee and Xu Tao from the town government in Shuangcheng District, went to Xinli Village to harass Falun Gong practitioners.
Ms. Che Guizhen, Mr. Liu Shujie, Ms. Sun Xiumin, and Mr. Yan Jinhai were harassed.
Several Falun Gong practitioners were arrested between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. on December 16, 2020.
Ms. Fan Ying is being held in the Chengde City No. 1 Detention Center. Ms. Wen Chunhua and Ms. Jiang Wenxiu were also arrested.
Ms. He Fuxiu and Ms. Zeng Xiaoling were held in the No. 1 Detention Center. They were sentenced to prison.
Personnel from the Linqing Procuratorate called Ms. Lu Guilan and Ms. Zhou Enbo and told them to go to the procuratorate at 9 a.m. on January 6, 2021.
Ms. Lu, in her 70s, and Ms. Zhou, in her 60s, were arrested on November 9, 2020. They were released the following day due to high blood pressure and were placed under residential surveillance.
Personnel from the Dunhua District Political and Legal Affairs Committee, sub-district administration offices and various communities have harassed and persecuted Falun Gong practitioners as part of the “zero-out” campaign since December 2020. They pressured practitioners to sign statements renouncing Falun Gong.
Some practitioners were taken to a brainwashing center, including Ms. Wu Yujing, Hao Shuchun (gender unknown), Ms. Wang Xiangju, Yu (gender unknown), and Zhang (gender unknown) were taken to the brainwashing center.
The Baoping Sub-district Administration Office forced Ms. Guo Wenjuan’s husband, who worked in the telecommunication bureau, to go home and persuade her to sign statements renouncing Falun Gong. They threatened to suspend her husband’s work and wages if she did not sign. Facing such coercion, the couple decided to divorce and went through divorce procedures today.
At the same time, the Fangjiazhuang Town government resorted to the same coercion to force Mr. Yang Yingjian and his wife to sign statements renouncing their belief. They forced the couple’s newly married daughter-in-law to go home and suspended her work and salary. The daughter-in-law was overwhelmed and was ready to get divorced.
Practitioner Zhang Gaicong (gender unknown) from Yanzhuang Village, Shenze County, was arrested while talking to people about Falun Gong at a farmers’ market on December 21, 2020. Zhang was officially placed under arrest and is still being held in the Shijiazhuang No. 2 Detention Center. Zhang’s case was turned over to the Jinzhou City Procuratorate.
Practitioner Xie Xingzhai (gender unknown) was arrested and taken to the Xingtai West Brainwashing Center by the Nanhe County police in recent days.
Mr. Liu Jianli was deceived into going to the police station on December 9, 2020. The Nanhe County Domestic Security Division, the township Political and Legal Affairs Committee, and the village committee attempted to take him to a brainwashing center. Mr. Liu was released around 8 p.m.
Local police officers went to Ms. Wang Mei’s home and harassed her in mid-December 2020. They pressured her to sign guarantee statements renouncing her faith, but she refused.
Four officers went to her home on December 17 and pressured her to sign statements, but she refused.
SWAT police officers went to her home on December 18, took her to the police station, and pressured her to sign and fingerprint statements.
Ms. Wang was harassed several times recently, including by community personnel.
Over ten officers from the Changchun City Police Department and the Luyuan District Police Department, together with director Liu Jinfeng of the Linyuan Police Station, broke into Ms. Wang Weiyi’s home in Hongqiao Residential Community on the morning of July 16, 2020. They ransacked the place and confiscated personal belongings.
They arrested Ms. Wang and her mother Ms. Zhang Xiuqing. Ms. Wang was taken to the Changchun City No. 4 Detention Center on July 28.
In November 2020, she was tried without her family being notified. She was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 5,000 yuan.
Deputy secretary Zhang Bo of the Chaisang District Political and Legal Affairs Committee, Liu (a staff member), and division head Liu Xiaohua of the Domestic Security Division went to Mr. Yu Qiang’s workplace at around 10 a.m. on November 5, 2020. They pressured him to write the “three statements” to renounce Falun Gong. Mr. Yu refused. They threatened to ransack his home.
Cases of Ms. Hu Hui, Mr. Guo Jinzhao, and Ms. Fu Lihong have been brought to the Xiangdu District Court.
