(Minghui.org) A man in Dongying City, Shandong Province was targeted by the police after he refused to provide false testimony against other local Falun Gong practitioners. Mr. Li Long, in his 30s, has filed a complaint against the police.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Li’s ordeal started with a banner reading “Celebrating May 13 World Falun Dafa Day,” displayed in Gudao Town, Hekou District, Dongying City on May 8, 2021. Many Falun Gong practitioners celebrate World Falun Dafa Day in China this way as a way to peacefully protest the ongoing persecution. The police arrested practitioners Ms. Bai Xingwen, Ms. Wang Ying and some of their family members, totaling 5 people, on July 15, after suspecting them of putting up the banner.
Mr. Li, who is Ms. Wang Ying’s son and who doesn’t practice Falun Gong, was among the five arrested. Because he questioned the legality of the police’s actions and refused to sign a fraudulent interrogation record, he was detained and interrogated again on August 27. The details of his ordeal were reported in an earlier report, “Mother Arrested for Displaying a Banner, Son Detained for Supporting Her.”
The police attempted to force Mr. Li to provide false testimony against the arrested practitioners. As he refused to do so, the police summoned him again on November 6, 2021 and attempted to detain him. Mr. Li refused to submit to the medical examination required for detention and was roughed up by the police. Upon being released, he filed an administrative reconsideration with the Shandong Provincial Government and a lawsuit with the Hekou District Court against the police.
Three officers from the Chaoyang Police Station of Dongying City, came to Mr. Li’s workplace, Dongli Electric Company, at around 8:00 a.m. on November 6.
Officer Song Mingxuan showed the summons to Mr. Li, who read it and pointed out that the summons was illegal. He asked Song for a clear explanation of his crime and what law he had allegedly violated. “The summons said that I am suspected of endangering society with cult activities. Which cult? How did I endanger society? Did I injure anyone?” The officers couldn’t answer his questions and only said that the case was “still in the investigation stage.”
While Mr. Li was talking, one officer snatched his cell phone and then the three of them dragged him away and pushed him into a police car. His colleagues were shocked to witness the police brutality.
The police took Mr. Li to the Chaoyang Police Station, where he got his cell phone back after his strong demand.
The three officers took Mr. Li to a hospital for a COVID-19 test. He refused to be tested and demanded that they show him the legal basis for restricting his personal freedom. The police did not respond.
Mr. Li called the police emergency hotline to report that he was being kidnapped. The three officers became enraged and knocked him to the ground. One of them snatched his cellphone again and broke it.

They insisted that they were within the law and instead accused Mr. Li of not cooperating with them. They held both of his arms tightly and pushed his head down on the window sill. One officer kicked Mr. Li’s left knee repeatedly and made him kneel down. A nurse then drew his blood. As Mr. Li struggled, blood gushed out all over the window sill.
The police took Mr. Li to another hospital for additional tests needed for admission to the local detention center, including another blood test, an electrocardiogram (ECG), a blood pressure reading, and a chest X-ray. They also called in another police officer for assistance.
The four officers held Mr. Li down during the blood test. For the chest X-ray, three of them stretched out his arms and legs and secured his wrists and ankles to the four corners of the X-ray unit. Song grabbed his collar and smashed his head against the machine repeatedly.
After the X-ray, they dragged him from the second floor to the first floor, pressed him to a bed, and attempted to do the ECG. Mr. Li strongly resisted and they had to give it up. They could not measure his blood pressure either.
Having failed to make Mr. Li submit to their violence, they tried to deceive him into cooperating by telling him that he could go home after the medical examination. Mr. Li did not budge. The four officers had to take him back to the police station after a lengthy standoff.
Mr. Li was again held in an interrogation room. Two police officers entered and one read out the Administrative Punishment Statement and ordered him to sign it. He refused and requested that they file an administrative reconsideration, but the police denied his request, saying that he could only appeal after serving the detention.
The police then took Mr. Li to the Binhai Detention Center in Niuzhuang Town. But the detention center refused to accept him because of the missing ECG and blood pressure reports.
The police took Mr. Li back to a hospital and attempted to force these tests on him again, but he firmly refused and had another stand-off with the police. They had no choice but take him back to the police station.
Mr. Li was released close to midnight.
Bruises on Mr. Li’s body from police violence
Mr. Li’s mother, Ms. Wang Ying, 57, has been practicing Falun Gong for more than 20 years. He witnessed his mother’s positive changes since the very beginning.
After two months of practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Wang’s many severe ailments, including neurological headaches, ocular arteriosclerosis (degeneration of the eye tissues) and stomach problems, were cured. She began to enjoy life again. Mr. Li, still a child then, was extremely grateful to Falun Gong.
After the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, Ms. Wang was repeatedly arrested and detained for upholding her faith. She was also given a forced labor term.
Mr. Li grew up lacking his parents’ love and care since his father passed away early. During his teenage years, he got in with the wrong crowd, became addicted to playing games on the internet, and started to smoke and drink. He developed a violent temper, and often brawled.
As he grew older, Mr. Li matured, especially after his mother was released from the labor camp. He was filial to his mother and receptive to her teachings and guidance. He gradually got rid of his bad habits and traits, becoming a responsible person and he established a family.
After Mr. Li had a chance to study Chinese law, he realized that there was no legal basis for the persecution of Falun Gong. The suppression his mother underwent, be it arrest, detention, or forced labor, was all illegal. He openly supported his mother in practicing Falun Gong.
Mr. Li Long showed great courage and righteousness when he firmly refused to frame Falun Gong practitioners during repeated detention, which brought him blessings in a recent accident.
On the morning of October 11, when Mr. Li and his colleague were working at a construction site with high-voltage equipment present, his left hand came into contact with a powerful high-voltage current and could not be freed. In extreme pain and panic, he suddenly remembered the auspicious phrases that his mother had said to him: “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” He shouted these words in his heart and his hand was instantly freed.
He collapsed. Then he saw his colleague lying on the ground. He shouted in his heart, “Falun Dafa is good! I have to save him!” He got up and limped over to his colleague, who was foaming at the mouth, eyes wide open.
He knelt by his side and shouted in his ear, “Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good! If you hear this, repeat along with me. It can save you.” After repeating these words loudly for about a minute, he saw his colleague regaining consciousness.
His colleague was sent to the hospital and was found to have only minor burns on his foot.
