(Minghui.org) A Wuhan City, Hubei Province resident was sentenced to six years in December 2020 for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Liu Zhenli, in her 40s, was arrested outside of her apartment when she came back from grocery shopping on October 15, 2019. She was held at the Wuhan City No. 1 Detention Center.
The police submitted her case to the Hanyang District Procuratorate. It’s reported that she was sentenced to six years in December 2020 by the Hanyang District Court, which has been assigned to handle most Falun Gong cases in the Wuhan region. It’s not clear whether Ms. Liu has been transferred to prison.
This was the fourth time that Ms. Liu, a former textile factory worker, has been arrested for her faith. She was first arrested on June 8, 2011 and held at a brainwashing center. She was given a labor camp term with an unknown length after her second arrest on April 13, 2012. She was arrested for the third time on March 21, 2014 and sentenced to three years. She spent eight months at the Wuhan City No.1 Detention Center and the rest of her term at the Wuhan Women’s Prison.
In addition to persecuting her, the police also harassed and intimidated her three sisters. Her husband divorced her a few years ago, afraid of being implicated in the persecution.
