(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 19 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Lin Caimei, in her 70s, was arrested by personnel from the Qujiang District Political and Legal Affairs Committee, the Qujiang District 610 Office, and the Qujiang District Domestic Security Division in early February 2021, before Chinese New Year’s Day on February 12.
Ms. Tang Zhizhen, in her 60s, was arrested by Shaoguan City domestic security officers in July 2020.
Both practitioners were sentenced and taken to prison in April 2021.
Ms. Wang Cuimian and Ms. Zhang Hongcui from Nanjia Village, Xiwang Town, Jizhou District, were arrested and taken to the Matouli Police Station, which in turn reported to the police department. The two practitioners were interrogated at the police station. After writing “guarantee statements” renouncing their faith, they were released the next day.
At the end of December 2020, Ms. Wang was sentenced to eight months in prison and Ms. Zhang was sentenced to one year in prison.
Ms. Chen Chen from Qingtongxia City was scheduled to be tried at the No. 1 Courtroom of Litong District Court on May 10, 2021.
Mr. Liu Zhen from Sanhe City, Hebei Province, was arrested at his rented home in the Haidian District of Beijing on April 30, 2021. The specific reason for his arrest is unknown, nor is the location where he is being held.
The Hengshan County Police Department and the Lianglukou Police Station called several times to harass Ms. Xia Quanying in April 2021. They also went to her ex-husband’s home to harass him and called their daughter who was out of town.
Ms. Wang Li, 75, was scheduled to be tried by the Huangdao District Court at 9 a.m. on May 11, 2021.
Ms. Lin Fengxiu from Dexin Town was arrested by four officers from the Dexin Town Police Station on the morning of April 12, 2021, for talking to people about Falun Gong. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Dafa books and printed materials. She was released around 2 p.m. that afternoon.
Ms. Xia Yulan from the Nanhu Sub-district, Wuchang District, was arrested at home by a group of people on May 4, 2021. She was taken to a brainwashing center.
Ms. Xiong Guiju was out shopping with her 8-year-old grandson in the Nanhu Carrefour Supermarket in Wuchang District on May 4, 2021. She was reported to the police for telling people about Falun Gong and how to stay healthy during the pandemic. She was arrested by officers from the Nanhu Police Station. Her grandson was also taken to the police station. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated eight Falun Dafa books.
While in custody, Ms. Xiong was interrogated, but she refused to cooperate. The officers separated her grandson from her and used deception to coax and interrogate the 8-year-old child. Ms. Xiong was placed under administrative detention but was released due to health reasons. She returned home around 1 a.m. on May 5.
Officers from the Hongdu Police Station and staff members from the community management office went to Ms. Liu Zhaoqin’s daughter’s home and harassed the family in early April 2021. As soon as they entered the room, they took pictures with cell phones around her home and asked Ms. Liu whether she still practiced Falun Gong.
When practitioners Liu Xin’an (gender unknown), Ms. Deng Yongmei, Ms.Chou Yunfeng, and Mr. Wang Meiqing drove to the borders of Jingzhou City and Zhijiang City, they were arrested by officers from the Caobuhu Police Station in Dangyang City, Yichang City, on the evening of April 15, 2021.
The four practitioners were taken to four separate police stations for interrogation, and before being locked up in Zhijiang City Supervision Center for 14 days of detention.
On April 28, the four practitioners were taken to the Dangyang City Detention Center. Their car was impounded and has not been returned so far. In addition, the police were charging them a parking fee of 100 yuan a day. Their families have nowhere to file complaints.
Ms. Tao Yuqin from Fengtai District was recently arrested. She is being held in the Fengtai Detention Center.
The Jiaokou County Police Department launched a “zero-out” campaign throughout the county in April 2021 to harass Falun Gong practitioners. From April 8 to 28, a group of three people, led by a domestic security officer, went to practitioners’ homes several times to harass them.
Domestic security officers went to Mr. Zhang Jianli’s home on April 28. Mr. Zhang was not at home. They threatened his family and asked them to watch him and not let him go out or go online, including accessing the Minghui website. They threatened that once Mr. Zhang went to specific websites, they would know immediately and would go to his home right away.
Three people from the Renmin Community Management Office went to Ms. Ma Ruiling’s workplace in Lanzhou City and harassed her on April 17, 2021. They pressured her to write “four statements” renouncing Falun Gong. They threatened that if she did not write the statements, they would go to her workplace and talk to her every day.
They also called Ms. Ma’s husband Mr. Ma Junyan and harassed him the same way.
Before that, the officers called and told the couple to go to Baiyin City. The police wanted to collect their biological information, such as recording their voices and gathering characteristics of their body shapes and postures.
