(Minghui.org) When Falun Dafa practitioners got together to do the morning exercises globally at 3:50 a.m., it was quite easy for me to get up and join them on time. However, after the schedule changed to 3:20 a.m., I had a hard time staying awake during the last exercise at around 5 a.m. I came to the conclusion that it was the result of waking up 30 minutes earlier.
To solve this problem, I adjusted my routine. I did the sitting meditation for one hour in the morning and the standing exercises in the evening for one hour after 10 p.m. That allowed me time to send forth righteous thought at midnight before going to bed. But this change brought about its own problems. I often had to deal with some chores at night, making it hard for me to focus and keep to the schedule.
I later had the chance to stay in the home of an elderly practitioner and saw how she organized her time. Every evening, she joined group Fa study until 10 p.m., her bedtime. Her alarm clock woke her up before 12 a.m. so she could send forth righteous thoughts before going back to sleep. She got up at 3 a.m. After washing her face and brushing her teeth, she paid her respect to Master by burning incense and kowtowing in front of Master’s portrait. She then began to do the five sets of exercises. I was surprised when I learned that she was 80 years old, as she looked much younger.
When exercise two was extended to one hour, they replaced the 30-minute version with the new hour-long one. However, I didn't do the same. Sometimes, I did exercise two for one hour, and sometimes I did it for 30 minutes. I felt that I had fallen way behind.
After reading a Minghui article on how a practitioner overcame difficulty in doing the morning exercises, I suddenly knew what I should do. I was determined to get up at 3:20 a.m. and do all of the exercises.
I found that I could get up when the alarm rang. After I got dressed, I started to do the exercises, with the extended time, all the way through without feeling sleepy. I was amazed at how easy it was.
I realized that these times must be taken seriously, and we should not sleep during the four designated times for sending forth righteous thoughts and the morning exercise time from 3:20 a.m. to 6:10 a.m. We cannot make excuses based on our human notions and must use our righteous mindset to do what is right.
Life is precious and time is limited. Let us become more diligent, starting from the morning exercises. Let's not give ourselves more excuses for not doing well in cultivation.
