(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 42 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Fourteen practitioners including Mr. Meng Xiangqi and Ms. Fu Guihua were sentenced to between seven and nine years in prison by the Lishu County Court of Siping City and fined 3,000 to 5,000 yuan on February 26, 2021. After they appealed, their verdicts were upheld by the Siping Intermediate Court.
Six female practitioners were transferred from the Siping City Detention Center to Jilin Women’s Prison on May 27, 2021. They are: Ms. Fu Guihua (56 years old, sentenced to seven and a half years in prison), Ms. Fu’s older daughter Ms. Yu Jianli (31 years old, sentenced to seven years in prison), Ms. Fu’s mother-in-law Ms. Wang Fengzhi (70 years old, sentenced to seven years in prison), Ms. Cui Guixian (57 years old, sentenced to seven years in prison), Ms. Cui’s in-law Ms. Liu Dongying (55 years old, sentenced to seven years in prison), and Ms. Zhang Shaoping (52 years old, sentenced to seven years in prison). It was reported that the practitioners would be quarantined in prison for two weeks, and their families would be notified when they could deposit money for them or visit them.
Four male practitioners were taken to the Jilin Prison. They are: Mr. Han Jianping (59 years old, sentenced to seven years in prison), Mr. Meng’s father Mr. Meng Fanjun (60 years old, sentenced to seven years in prison), Mr. Wang Kemin (70 years old, sentenced to seven years in prison), and Mr. Tan Qiucheng (45 years old, sentenced to seven years in prison). The prison said that the practitioners would be quarantined for 14 days and their families would be notified when they could deposit money or visit them.
Ms. Fu Xiaoli was arrested on February 29, 2020. She was tried and sentenced to two years in prison by the Yantian Court on April 26, 2021. She appealed on May 3. She is being held in the Yantian Detention Center.
Ms. Wang Meihua from Minhang District was tried and sentenced to one year and three months in prison by the Fengxian District Court on May 24, 2021.
At noon on May 21, 2021, Mr. Chen Ruyong of Dongyuan Town received a call from the police station. The police asked to meet with him, which he refused. Then they called Mr. Chen’s wife and asked to meet with her, and she refused as well. The police also asked to meet with them in the afternoon, which the couple refused. At about 9 p.m. that evening, the director of the police station brought four people to the couple’s home to harass them.
Ms. Guo Yonghong from Dagang Sub-district, Binhai New Area, was arrested by officers from the Banchang Road Police Station and residential committee personnel on the afternoon of May 29, 2021. She was taken to the police station. The officers pressured her to sign the three statements. They said they would not release her if she did not sign. Ms. Guo has not returned home yet.
Many Falun Gong practitioners from the Hebei Forestry Bureau were harassed by the local police at home or by phone.
Ms. Qin Shuhua was arrested for distributing Falun Gong materials. The police ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Dafa books, printed materials, keepsakes, and a cell phone. She was released. Ms. Wu Guangmin was harassed at home twice.
Ms. Song Guiping, Ms. Jia Qiumei, and Ms. Jia Chunmei were harassed by phone on May 27, 2021. Ms. Wang Fengyun was coaxed over the phone or via text messaging to sign paperwork, the details of which are pending.
After Ms. Zhang Linying’s national ID card was checked at the Dangshan High-speed Railway South Station on May 23, 2021, the police confiscated her cell phone which stored Dafa music. The police refunded her ticket without her approval, prohibited her from traveling, and arrested her. They also lied to Ms. Zhang’s daughter and said that they took Ms. Zhang to Yongcheng City. Her daughter made a trip to Yongcheng in vain.
The officers took Ms. Zhang to the Development District Police Station and then to the Chengguan Police Department. Afterwards, more than twelve officers ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Dafa books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, and printed materials. Ms. Zhang was held in the police department overnight. The next day the officers pressured her to sign a form pleading guilty to the “crime of unlawfully disrupting public order,” which she refused. Her daughter later signed on her behalf and she was released.
When Ms. Zhang Hua took the high-speed train to Xinxiang City, Henan Province, around May 19, the police searched her bag at the Xinxiang Station, and found keepsakes and paper bills with Falun Gong facts printed on them. She was arrested.
Shang Hongwei, director of the Caitingqiao Town Police Station, Yutian County, and others led by the village accountant went to the homes of Ms. Liu Ping, Mr. Zhang Qingxuan, Mr. Huang Kejun, and Ms. Sun Shulan and harassed them on May 18, 2021. They confiscated several Falun Dafa books from Ms. Liu’s home and a calendar from Mr. Zhang’s home.
Rong Wencheng (gender not known) was arrested by officers from the Taolaizhao Town Police Station on May 13, 2021, and was taken to the Fuyu City Lockup Center. After 10 days of detention in the lockup, Rong was taken to the Fuyu City Detention Center.
Officers from the Tuanjie Road Police Station went to Ms. Cui Aiyun’s home on the afternoon of May 24, 2021. They asked her if she was still practiced Falun Gong and told her to stay home to practice and not go out and distribute Falun Gong materials.
On May 30, several officers ransacked Ms. Cui’s home. She was arrested. She is currently receiving treatment in the hospital due to health problems. The details are yet to be collected.
Practitioner Du (first name and gender are unknown) was arrested and is being held in the Datong Rehabilitation Hospital. Du’s home was ransacked.
Mr. Miao Yongli from Guye District was taken to the Luanzhou City Detention Center on May 27, 2021.
Ms. Sun Lijuan was arrested by Jiaozuo City Domestic Security officers in Henan Province. She has been transferred back to the Jinzhou Women’s Detention Center.
Ms. Sun and her husband Mr. Zhang Baoguo have been officially placed under arrest by the Jinzhou Procuratorate.
Ms. Su Guiying was arrested in 2016, sentenced to four years in prison, and severely abused. She was released in September 2020.
After she was released, she found that her pension had been deducted starting in August 2020. She called the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau to inquire. The bureau told her to return the pension she received during the years when she was in prison before they would resume her payments.
Several officers broke into Ms. Qu Guiqing’s home on the morning of May 29, 2021. They ransacked the place and confiscated all her Falun Dafa books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, a desk calendar, an audio player, and two Chinese New Year paintings with Falun Gong information. Ms. Qu was taken to the police station. Her husband and son went to the police station to demand her release. She was released that evening.
Ms. Huang Jialan was harassed twice by agents from the Shahe Police Station, Chaisang District, in recent days.
The first time, two women and one man went to Ms. Huang’s home and took pictures of her. The second time, three women and one man went to her home and took away two audio players.
Recently, officers from the Xiaoshi Police Station again harassed Ms. Zhang Guirong several times. They took Ms. Zhang to the police station for questioning.
The officers also harassed and questioned Ms. Li Xiaoxia’s non-practitioner husband to collect “evidence” in preparation of further persecution of Ms. Li.
Ms. Chen Hui from Yuelu District was arrested at home around May 21, 2021. Seven or eight officers from the Wangyue Police Station ransacked her home that evening, and confiscated personal belongings. She was taken to the police station, where the officers pressured her to write guarantee statements renouncing Falun Gong, but she refused. After being held in custody for two nights and one day, she returned home.
Nan Minmin (gender unknown) was arrested on May 29, 2020. Nan was tried on March 25, 2021. No further information is available at this time.
