(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 27 cities or counties in 15 provinces, where at least 53 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. He Wenhui, 86, is a retired professor and lives in the residential compound of the Forestry College. Four men and three women from the local community office and the Taishan Road Police Station went to his home around 9 a.m., on July 16, 2021. They asked whether he still practiced Falun Gong and he said yes.
These people searched and videotaped his home. They confiscated his Falun Gong books, the photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and truth-clarifying materials such as Minghui Weekly and Pure Insight Weekly.
Mr. He’s house helper Mr. Wu Dexiu was arrested. It is unknown where Mr. Wu Dexiu is detained.
Yang Liangying (gender unknown) from Zhijiang County, Huaihua City, Hunan Province was recently sentenced to five years in prison by the Yuping County Court in Tongren City for posting truth-clarifying stickers.
Mr. Qu Xing, 32, is a native of Liaoning Province and currently works in Chengdu City. He was arrested in his rented house by officers from the Xiaojiahe Police Station on June 8, 2021. His home was ransacked. The police confiscated his Falun Gong books and truth-clarifying materials. His mother Ms. Xu Yanping, was also taken away. Mr. Qu has been detained in the Chengdu City Detention Center and is now placed under official arrest by the Gaoxin District Procuratorate. His mother has been released.
Mr. Chen Xinye and his wife Ms. Chen Lihui were arrested at home in the Yuhong District around 8 p.m. on July 22, 2021. Their home was ransacked. The couple’s computer and Falun Dafa books were confiscated.
Their daughter received a call from the Dadong District Police Department on the evening of July 23, 2021, and was told that her mother Ms. Chen would be released under residential surveillance. However, Ms. Chen was still detained. The daughter inquired where her parents were detained but did not get an answer.
At the same time the couple were arrested around 8 p.m. on July 22, 2021, a group of officers went to the Yan Family Chicken Restaurant in Beixing and arrested practitioner Mr. Liu Xianyong and twelve employees in the restaurant. They were taken to a hostel and each was detained in a separate room. Except for Mr. Liu Xianyong, all the others were released the next afternoon.
Ms. Chen Lihui works in the restaurant. Her husband Mr. Chen Xinye would drop her off or pick up her every day. Mr. Liu Xianyong, Ms. Chen Lihui, and Mr. Chen Xinye have been detained and it is unknown where they are being held.
Ms. Gong Ruiping lives in 45 North Road, Liujiadian Village, Liujiadian Town, Pinggu District with her 88-year-old mother. Several officers from the Yuyang Police Station, led by village official Gong, went to her home around 6 a.m. on July 20, 2021, and knocked on the door. As soon as Ms. Gong opened the door, a female officer grabbed her wrists and held her tightly. These people did not show their IDs and started to search the house. They made the house messy. Ms. Gong’s mother kept saying they were robbers. They confiscated some Dafa books and some truth-clarifying materials and then took Ms. Gong away.
Mr. Zhang Junquan, 53, lives in the Guoqiao Village, Liugu Town, Fuping County. He was sentenced to prison twice with eight years in 2004 and seven years and eight months in 2012.
Mr. Zhang was arrested again at the end of March 2021 and has been detained in the Fuping County Detention Center.
Mr. Zhang Chuanyong works in the Zhangqiu Branch of Jinan Open University. He received a call from Guo Jijun, director of the General Affairs Office of the branch around 3 p.m. on July 23, 2021. Guo told him that he would accompany Mr. Zhang to the Hailong Resort to attend a “study group” (a brainwashing class) on July 26, 2021. Mr. Zhang firmly refused.
Ms. Chen Shujin’s family member received a call from the Fengtai Sub-district Office on the afternoon of July 22, 2021. Then two people from the sub-district office went to Ms. Chen’s home. They photographed her and asked whether Ms. Chen still practiced Falun Gong.
Ms. Han Naixiu from the Gaoxin District and her house helper Ms. Xing Yanbo were arrested on June 21, 2021. The police used the key they took from Ms. Xing and ransacked Ms. Han’s home. They confiscated Ms. Xing’s personal belongings including her laptop, truth-clarifying CDs, a CD of Master Li’s lectures, and her cell phone. They also confiscated Ms. Han’s personal belongings including her photo of Falun Gong’s founder, two tape players, one DVD player, more than 50 Falun Gong books, and her cell phones. The house was in complete disarray.
Ms. Xing Yanbo was released on June 21, 2021. Since Ms. Han Naixiu was unable to take care of herself, three officers found Ms. Han’s eldest daughter on June 22, 2021, and ordered her to sign the document for bail pending trial. The document did not state the bail length.
10. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Case Against Ms. Li Hui Submitted to Court
Ms. Li Hui, 19, is a freshman in the Weifang Nursing Vocational College. She was arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong at school and has been detained for 92 days. Her case is now submitted to the court.
Five practitioners from the Hongtoushan Town will be tried at the Changtu District Court in Tieling City on August 3, 2021. They are Zhu Qinghua, Shi Hongxiang, Lin Guilan, Yang Bailiang, and Yang Xiaozhi.
Ms. Wu Yuying, 77, Ms. Li Minna, 65, and Ms. Wang Guixiang were reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong in Xiguoyuan Township on June 23, 2021. Zhang, head of the Xiguoyuan Township Police Station, and other officers arrested the three practitioners and took them to the Qilihe District Police Department. Ms. Wu Yuying was placed under 10-day detention, to be carried out at home. Ms. Li Minna was detained for 10 days in the Xiguoyuan Detention House. Ms. Wang was taken to her home by Chief Wang of the West Station Police Station and other officers on the evening of June 23, 2021. The police ransacked her home and confiscated several Falun Gong books. Ms. Wang was told to go to the West Station Police Station the next day with her daughter. Ms. Wang left her home the following morning.
Ms. Chen Juan was tried in the Dehui City Court on July 20, 2021. The hearing lasted more than 40 minutes. The verdict was not announced. Ms. Chen was allowed to go home and wait for the result.
More than 10 practitioners including Mr. Shi Pengxiang and his wife Ms. Wang Yu were arrested on July 21, 2021. Mr. Shi is a teacher in Jilin University and Ms. Wang is a teacher in the Jilin Art College.
Ms. Sun Xiuzhen lives with her son in Qingdao City. She was arrested in June 2021 for talking to people about Falun Gong. Her son was told that his mother was going to be sentenced to six months in prison.
Ms. Zhao Hongyan was arrested on July 21, 2021.
Qin Zhangdai (gender unknown), 65, from Wucheng County was harassed at home by officers from the Luquantun Town Police Station at the beginning of February 2021. They confiscated one media player and asked whether Qin still practiced Falun Gong.
Officers from the town police station went to Qin’s home again in June 2021. They confiscated a photo of Falun Gong’s founder and a media player.
Five people from the Fuxing Town 610 Office, the town police station, and the Taishan Community Office went to Ms. Cao Mingfang’s home on June 4, 2021. They entered the house and started to photograph around. Two officers wrote something on paper and then told Ms. Cao to sign it. After Ms. Cao refused, they instigated Ms. Cao’s daughter to hold her, they forcefully held her hand to press her fingerprints on the paper.
Twelve officers from the Pingshan County Police Department went to Mr. Sun Sanlong’s home in Beiqiji Village, Sanji Township after midnight on July 23, 2021. They jumped over the wall into the courtyard and broke into Mr. Sun’s house. They ransacked his home and confiscated some Dafa books and CDs. Mr. Sun was taken to the county police department.
The next morning on July 24, 2021, three officers from the Sanji Township Police Station went to ransack Mr. Sun’s home again. Officers Zhou Shenglong and An Zhijun from the township police station went to Mr. Sun’s home in the afternoon. They talked to Mr. Sun’s wife to give a written statement.
Ms. Li Yanxia from Tangxia Town will be tried online by the Dalingshan People’s Court on August 17, 2021. Two of her family members are allowed to attend the hearing.
Mr. Ren Haifei has been detained in the Yaojia Detention Center for more than a year after he was arrested by officers from the Ganjingzi Street Police Station. Mr. Ren Haifei and Ms. Sun Zhongli will be tried in the Ganjingzi District Court on the afternoon of July 29, 2021.
Ms. Hu Fengying and another practitioner were arrested by officers from the Xiameiqiao Police Station on the afternoon of July 22, 2021. Ms. Hu was placed under 5-day detention. The other practitioner’s situation is unknown.
Ms. Lu Guilan and Ms. Zhou Enbo received a call from the Linqing Domestic Security Division on July 19, 2021. They were told to have a physical examination the next day. After they were taken to have the examination on July 20, 2021, they were taken back to their homes.
Ms. Liu Shuhua from Aohanqi was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong at the end of June 2021. The police went to her home to arrest her but missed her. They went to her brother’s home but she was not there. A few days later, her husband and other family members agreed to cooperate with police after they were told that Ms. Liu would be only detained for a few days if they paid some money and had her sign a guarantee statement. Ms. Liu left home the next day.
Officers from the Jinchanggouliang Town Police Station and the Sijiazi Town Police Station went to Ms. Liu’s home again on July 22, 2021. They ransacked her home but found nothing. Then they went to the home of Ms. Liu’s daughter to look for her.
Ms. Cao Fengmin from Shidong Village and her daughter stayed in their house in Hailin City when several police officers knocked on the door around 3 a.m. on June 10, 2021. Ms. Cao did not open the door. Her husband was called and came from the Shidong Village. To prevent the police from breaking the lock, Ms. Cao opened the door. The police ransacked the house and confiscated two Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and three cell phones. Ms. Cao and her daughter were taken to the Xinhe Police Station. Officer Liu Jin questioned the source of the Dafa books and asked some other questions. Ms. Cao and her daughter were released around 4 p.m. in the afternoon.
Several officers from the Han Village Police Station in Fengkuang District of Handan City and the Tushan Township Police Station in Wu’an City went to the home of Li Lianye (gender unknown) in the Xihu Mine residential area, outskirts of Wu’an City around 8 p.m. on July 15, 2021. They confiscated Li’s car and a cell phone. Li was taken to the Tushan Township Police Station that night for interrogation. The next day Li was sent to the No.3 Detention Center of Handan City by officers from the Han Village Police Station.
Li’s other house was ransacked by officers from the Han Village Police Station on the morning of July 18, 2021. They found it by reading the messages on a practitioner’s cell phone.
Mr. Li Yanchun was arrested at home at noon on July 22, 2021. Plainclothes police officers videotaped and photographed his home. Mr. Li was taken to the Lulong County Detention Center.
It is learned that Mr. Li is currently hospitalized in Qinhuangdao Police Hospital and has symptoms of high blood pressure. His son received a call from the police and was told to send some money and clothes to his dad.
Mr. Lei Jiangtao, 42, was arrested on June 18, 2020, and released on bail on June 27. He was tried by the Qingjiangpu District Court on December 9, 2020. He was taken back into custody at the Lianshui Detention Center on March 2, 2021. The judge sentenced him to 1.5 years on March 10, 2021. He appealed with the Huaian City Intermediate Court, which ruled to uphold his original verdict on July 21.
