(Minghui.org) A Jingmen City, Hubei Province resident has been detained incommunicado for over two months for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Pei Hong, around 50, was arrested at work, a local gas station, on June 30, 2021. His home was also ransacked, and his computer, printer and other personal belongings were confiscated.
As the police never informed his family of his arrest, it took them a month to find out that Mr. Pei is now being held at the Jingmen City Detention Center. The guards barred them from visiting or writing to Mr. Pei and only allowed them to deliver clothes and make cash deposit for him. The guards claimed that they must apply “very strict” management to people like Mr. Pei.
When Mr. Pei’s family went to the Duodao Police Station to inquire about his case, the police refused to provide any details, but only accused him of “undermining law enforcement with a cult organization” and “endangering state power.”
Mr. Pei’s arrest has been approved and he is now facing prosecution after the police submitted his case to the procuratorate.
After the persecution began in 1999, Mr. Pei went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. He was arrested and accused of “disrupting social order.” The police gave him two years at the Shayang Forced Labor Camp, where he was forced to do heavy farm work and build a water reservoir. After he was released, the police continued to harass him and forced him to attend brainwashing sessions.
Unable to bear the pressure from the persecution, Mr. Pei’s wife divorced him. His family lived in fear.
At work, his manager often put him on night shifts and gave him difficult work to do. Mr. Pei never complained and still tried to cover dangerous tasks for his colleagues. He began to work for a private gas company two years ago. He worked hard and had good scores in various technical exams, which won him praise from his supervisor.
