(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 26 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Sun Shujie went to the Social Security Bureau on December 23, 2020, to ask that her pension payments, which were withheld while she was imprisoned, be refunded. On her way there, she was arrested by officers from the Lixin Police Station in the Jianshan District. She was taken to the Shuangyashan City Detention Center.
Ms. Sun developed illness symptoms due to the abuse she suffered in the detention center. She was taken to a hospital, and her condition became serious. The detention center officials were afraid of being held responsible, so they took her home on January 28, 2021, and placed her under residential surveillance.
Around 7 a.m. on March 30, Ms. Sun was taken to the Mining General Hospital for a physical exam in preparation for a trial scheduled to be held in the Jianshan District Court. Her blood pressure was so high that the Shuangyashan Detention Center refused to admit her. The court indicted her and put her under surveillance.
On August 21, Ms. Sun was arrested again and is now facing trial.
Ms. Sun was previously arrested 14 times. Prior to being taken to the detention center in 2020, she was incarcerated in Harbin Prison for five years until she was released in 2019.
Officer Tian Wei from the Zhengxing Street Police Station in Zitong Town in the Tongnan District called Ms. Chen Qing’s cell phone three times after 10 a.m. on June 4, 2021. When Ms. Chen picked up the third call, which came after 11 a.m. Tian asked if she still practiced Falun Gong.
On August 24, 2021, Ms. Chen and her husband went to the Tai’an Town Police Station to process a household relocation registration for their eldest child. A male officer asked if they were vaccinated. When they said they had not been, the officer told another officer who was handling household registrations not to process their application. He told the couple they had to be vaccinated before they could apply.
Ms. Qian Guiling and Ms. Zhang Chunyan were arrested and taken to a police department by Li Yuchen from the Lanxi County Domestic Security Division and others for talking to people about Falun Gong in a shopping mall around 9 a.m. on August 23, 2021. They were taken to the hospital for physical exams that afternoon and held in the detention center for 10 days.
The officers took Ms. Zhang’s keys, entered her home, and photographed it.
Cui and others from the Comprehensive Management Office (also known as the 610 Office) ordered an acquaintance of Mr. Chen Yong’s to convince him to go to a deserted area around 6 p.m. on August 22, 2021. Cui and the others seized him and took him to a brainwashing center. They called his family afterwards and threatened not to let them visit him.
Ms. Zhang Shuling is 83 years old. Officer Zhang Tieliang from the Daliang Town Police Station and others harassed her at home on numerous occasions beginning in 2020. Sometimes, they stayed there for long hours. Their presence disrupted her entire family and they could not eat or sleep. Village Party secretary Tian, deputy Party secretary Wang Shuyun, and others frequently harassed Ms. Zhang, which resulted in her rapidly deteriorating physical condition.
Around noon on August 17, 2021, village women’s affairs director Fu Dejin went to Ms. Zhang’s home to take a video of her with her cell phone. She asked Ms. Zhang, “Do you still practice calligraphy?” Ms. Zhang answered, “I don’t practice calligraphy.” Fu said, “Just say that you don’t practice!” Ms. Zhang repeated, “I don’t practice calligraphy.” Fu had wanted to record Ms. Zhang saying, “I don’t practice,” implying that Ms. Zhang was referring to Falun Gong.
In addition to Ms. Zhang, they also harassed her practitioner daughter Ms. Xiao Xiaowen.
Three officers from the Daiwangcheng Town Police Station in Yu County went to Ms. Zhang Guihua’s home in Chengqiangnian Village in July 2021. They asked if she still practiced Falun Gong, where her children were, and what their jobs were.
Ms. Zhang’s 80-year-old mother-in-law has been ill and bedridden for years. She was saddened when the police harassed Ms. Zhang. She said, “Let them take me away instead. I would rather be taken away so my family can have peace of mind!” The next day, she vomited a lot of blood.
Ms. Tao Yuqin from the No. 6 Group in the Tongfu Community of Jinma Town in the Wenjiang District was reported to the police for distributing information about Falun Gong. She was arrested and taken to the Yangliuhe Police Station at 9 a.m. on March 20, 2020. The officers searched and photographed her. They confiscated over 20 booklets and 90 yuan in paper bills with facts about Falun Gong printed on them.
The police station director handcuffed Ms. Tao with her hands behind her back until 2 p.m. that afternoon. Then, 610 Office agents and officers from the police station took her home and ransacked it. They confiscated 12 Falun Gong books. They even confiscated paintings from the walls because they were about Falun Gong.
Yang Xingye (gender unknown) was released on bail between July 2017 and July 2021. Yang was given a four-year sentence on July 13, 2021.
Two officers from the Xinhua Street Police Station went to Ms. Yu Lihong’s work unit and harassed her on the morning of August 24, 2021.
Police officers from Zhuolu County recently called and harassed practitioners Lu Jiyun, Zhai Shengrong, and Guo Qingfeng, which placed significant pressure on these practitioners’ families.
Tan Haiyang (gender unknown) and Mr. Qi Guoxi were arrested. Their homes were ransacked and computers, printers, and supplies were confiscated. Tan was taken to a detention center. Mr. Qi was released on bail for health reasons.
Ms. Xue Lianxia from the Huangdao District was tried on June 21, 2021. She has been held in custody for over two months.
Ms. Xue was first quarantined in the Dazhushan Police Station for 14 days and then taken to the Chengyang Detention Center, where she was quarantined for 14 more days. She is now being held in the Pudong Detention Center. Her family did not receive the verdict. Her daughter called the judge, who told her that Ms. Xue was sentenced to five years in prison. Her family has appealed the verdict.
Ms. Xu Yonglan from Bancheng Village, Maquan Township in the Wuqing District, was held in a detention center for over a month. Further information is pending.
Ms. Jiang Xinmei is from the Yubei District. Her case was turned over to the Jiangbei District Procuratorate by Wang Guojiang and others in the Yubei District Domestic Security Division on August 13, 2021.
On August 16, the procuratorate notified Ms. Jiang that she had to pick up the “Notice of Litigation Rights and Obligations of Criminal Suspects.” There was no official seal on the notice.
On August 17, Liu Jie, the case handler for the Jiangbei District Procuratorate, subpoenaed Ms. Jiang. Liu asked her questions, produced a transcript, and videotaped her.
Ms. Zhang Jinfang was reported to the police for clarifying the truth to people a year ago. The Chaoyang District police told her family that she was released on bail for one year. On August 25, 2021, they said that one year has passed, and the Chaoyang District Procuratorate told Ms. Zhang to go to the procuratorate to sign paperwork. Then she woud be released on bail pending trial and her case would be canceled.
They also threatened Ms. Zhang’s son and daughter-in-law that if she did not sign the paperwork or refused to be “transformed,” there would be consequences and she would face arrest.
Ms. Zhao Ronghua, in her 80s, was arrested at home by three men and a woman on the afternoon of July 22, 2021. As soon as they entered, they started recording. Without presenting any documents, they confiscated two Falun Gong books, then took Ms. Zhao to the Daxing Town Police Station and pressured her to sign paperwork.
By 9 p.m. that evening, her family signed the guarantee statements and she was released on bail for one year.
Wen Jinhua, Huang Rongzhen, and Deng were arrested at home on June 14, 2021. It is currently unknown where they are being held.
He Xingqi was arrested while talking to an elderly person about Falun Gong on June 28.
Mr. Yu Ziming was arrested when he was buying an air conditioner on June 29. He was taken to several facilities in surrounding counties, but he was denied admission due to high blood pressure. Later he was taken to the Longchang City People’s Hospital, where he was confirmed to have lung problems and high blood pressure. His family took him home on July 4.
