(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 11 provinces, where at least 25 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Wang Haiqian was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison and fined 50,000 yuan. Ms. Tang Zhikai was sentenced to five years in prison and fined 30,000 yuan. They appealed to the intermediate court but the verdicts were upheld.
When Ms. Wang and Ms. Tang were transferred to the Jiazhou Prison in Leshan at the end of July or beginning of August, their family members were not informed. Their families did not know about their situation until July 28, 2021, when they were contacted and told to collect the confiscated items that were not related to Falun Gong.
It was learned that Ms. Dong from the Hongqiao District, around 70, was sentenced to three years in prison.
Three practitioners Ms. Gao Xiaoqi, Ms. Sun Fengxian and Zhao Xiu (gender unknown) were arrested in Nong’an County on July 5, 2020. They were sentenced to prison by the Dehui District Court. Their cases were processed in the Changchun Intermediate Court on September 1, 2021.
Ms. Wang Li, 75, from Jiaozhou City was sentenced to one and a half years in prison. Ms. Wang Li was arrested by officers from the Zhangying Police Station in Jiaozhou City on August 20, 2021. She is currently detained in Chengyang.
Ms. Xu Liming and Mr. Zhang Xiaodong will be tried in the Dalian Development Zone Court at 1 p.m. on September 9, 2021.
Mr. Zhang Zhihui, 55, was arrested by officers from the Longgu Township Police Station and the Huangchuan County Domestic Security Division on July 20, 2021. He was arrested while driving his car in Longgu Township. Mr. Zhang was placed under official arrest and detained for two weeks.
Ms. Huang Shulan is a retired teacher and lives in Nancheng Community, Xuyong County. During the CCP’s Zero-out Campaign, Ms. Huang was harassed multiple times since April 2021. Community staff members, the principal of the school that she worked in before she retired, and the director of the county education bureau, pressured her to sign a guarantee statement, which she firmly refused.
Ms. Huang’s son was harassed by people from the county Political and Legal Affairs Committee, the Nancheng Community and the local police station on August 18, 2021. He was pressured to sign a guarantee statement on behalf of his mother. He was threatened and told that his mother would not receive her pension if he did not cooperate. Under the intense pressure he gave in and signed the statement.
Two police officers went to Mr. Wang Yuncai’s home around 3 p.m. on August 11, 2021. They asked questions such as whether he still practiced Falun Gong, his ID number, what kind of jobs his children had, whether his wife practiced Falun Gong, etc. Mr. Wang told them not to ask for this personal information and tried to clarify the truth to them.
Wang Binlian (gender unknown) is a programmer in Chenzhou Branch of Guangdong Bomei Property Management Co. Ltd. Wang lives in Jiedong Community, Qifengdu Town, Suxian District, Chenzhou City. During the Zero-out Campaign, Wang was pressured to sign a guarantee statement by the town officials and the community director, which Wang refused.
Those people managed to contact Li Jianzhong who is in charge of the Chenzhou Branch where Wang worked. Wang received a notice of “termination of the labor contract” on September 1, 2021. The reason was that Wang was found to be a Falun Gong practitioner and the company of Guangdong Bomei Property Management Co., Ltd prohibits employees from practicing Falun Gong. Wang refused to accept being fired due to his belief and submitted an application to the Chenzhou Labor Arbitration Commission.
Ms. Li Lizhu, around 74, lives on Miyun Road. She has not been heard from since the beginning of June 2021.
Mr. Xu Yanzhong lives in Zhaojiayuan Village, Fu’an Sub-district. He was arrested at the beginning of June 2021 and has been detained in the Jiaodong Police Station since.
Wang Shujin (gender unknown) lives in Qicheng Village, Jiaobei Town. Officers from the Jiaozhou Market Police Station went to Wang’s home on June 2, 2021. They confiscated two printers, one laptop computer and other items and arrested Wang Shujin and Cheng Jiqing. Cheng Jiqing was released the next day. Wang Shujin was detained for 10 days.
Ms. Li Jingya helped an elderly lady who was hit by a car a few months ago. She told the woman to remember and say, “Falun Dafa is good!” The driver involved in the accident reported Ms. Li to the police. Officers from the Niudaokou Town Police Station went to Ms. Li’s home several times since August 2021. They wore body cameras and told Ms. Li to cooperate, which she refused.
Ms. Li received a notice on September 6, 2021, saying that if she signed it she would not be punished. She refused. The next day, she received another notice, saying that she would be punished. The police officers searched her home while videotaping the process. They said that the matter was not over yet and they would come back.
Liu Ling (gender unknown) from Gonghe County was arrested on September 5, 2021. Liu Ling was harassed and pressured to sign the three statements, which Liu refused.
Ms. Sheng Chaozhu was harassed at home by five people including Hua Yong from the Dongsheng Community at noon on September 6, 2021. Ms. Sheng was pressured to sign a guarantee statement, which she refused.
Ms. Xing was arrested on the afternoon of September 6, 2021, when she was talking to cleaning staff on the street. Officers jumped out of their police car and arrested her. Ms. Xing was placed under 15-day detention. Her son was called back from Beijing.
Mr. Qin Songfa was harassed at home by some people including Wang Xianzhong from the Xiazhuang Town 610 Office on the afternoon of September 3, 2021. They took some photos and left.
The family members of Ms. Li Yueqin received calls from the local police station and from a village official on August 30 and September 1, 2021. Ms. Li was told to sign a guarantee statement. She was threatened that her children would be implicated and that their future schooling and college entrance examinations in the future would be compromised if she did not cooperate.
Ms. Li Yanxia from Tangxia Town was tried in the Dalingshan Court on the morning of September 7, 2021. Her lawyer defended her innocence during the trial, but she was still sentenced to two years and six months in prison and fined 20,000 yuan. One of her cell phones was turned over to the state treasury. The other electronic devices including her cell phones and computers will be auctioned to pay the fine. The other items confiscated from her home will be destroyed.
Song Lei (gender unknown) and Ms. Wu Junfang from Ci County were stopped by the epidemic control personnel in East Huangshu Village, Chengnan Sub-district, Jinan New District on the afternoon of August 22, 2021. They were asked to show the health codes in their cell phones and their IDs. They said they forgot to bring their phones. They were reported to Zu Benqiang, secretary of the village Party committee, who reported them to the Chengnan Police Station.
Song Lei and Ms. Wu Junfang were taken to the police station and interrogated. Song Lei was beaten by officer Cheng Liangliang after refusing to give the passcode to unlock the hard disk. The police confiscated their items including their carry-on bags, the hard disk, and the laptop. The police still have not returned the items. Ms. Wu Junfang’s home was ransacked and some booklets and stickers were confiscated. Both practitioners were released around 10 p.m.
