(Minghui.org) Five Falun Gong practitioners in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, have been indicted and their cases have been submitted to the Hanyang District Court. When their families went to the court to inquire about their cases, they were told that information was secret and wouldn’t be disclosed.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
All Falun Gong cases in Wuhan are handled either by the Hanyang District Court or the Hongshan District Court. After they receive a case, they submit it to the Wuhan City Intermediate Court, where the sentence is determined by the higher court, the Political and Legal Affairs Committee, and the 610 Office. The latter two “extra-judicial” agencies are tasked with overseeing the persecution.
Below are details of the five practitioners’ cases.
Ms. Zhou Xiuhua was first arrested on July 15, 2020, and later released on bail. The police took her back into custody in late January 2021 and submitted her case to the Dongxihu District Procuratorate, which then transferred the case to the Hanyang District Procuratorate.
The prosecutor returned the case to the police for insufficient evidence on March 18, 2021. The police submitted the case a second time on April 18. Two months later on June 10, prosecutor Wu Songen indicted Ms. Zhou and moved her case to the Hanyang District Court.
Her family went to the court several times to inquire about her case but to no avail.
Ms. Luo Yuanying and Ms. Huang Hongwei were arrested on February 22, 2021, for talking to people about Falun Gong in public. They have been held in the Wuhan City No.1 Detention Center for over six months.
Their families learned that their cases have been forwarded to the Hanyang District Court. But when they went there for information about the cases, they couldn’t find out anything.
Ms. Yang Jiamin was arrested on May 12, 2021, after surveillance cameras recorded her distributing Falun Gong materials. The police located her home after going through the footage.
The police ransacked Ms. Yang’s primary residence in front of her young daughter and confiscated her computer, printer, cellphone, and 160 Falun Gong flyers. Hours later, they also ransacked her other residence but didn’t find anything related to Falun Gong.
Ms. Yang is now being held in the Jiang’an District Detention Center. Her family received a notice on June 18 that her arrest had been approved. Her case has been submitted to the Hanyang District Court.
Ms. Chen Wenjuan was arrested on May 19, 2021, after a surveillance camera recorded her distributing Falun Gong materials the day before. The police located her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books.
The Hanyang District Procuratorate indicted her on July 21, 2021, and moved her case to the Hanyang District Court.
