(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 70 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Zhang Lingge was sentenced to four years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan on October 27, 2020. Ms. Zhang’s mother is nearly 80 years old. She also has a disabled younger brother, and they have a hard time making a living. Because of her financial difficulty Ms. Zhang was not forced to pay the 10,000 yuan fine.
Ms. Song Xiaoxia is from Nankai District. A group of people who were not wearing police uniforms went to her mother’s home to look for her on November 21, 2021. They claimed to be from the police department and said that they were looking for Ms. Song. They got her phone number from her mother. They called Ms. Song and told her to go to the police department. Ms. Song went to see them, but her family has not heard from her since.
Ms. Xiao Mingxia, 52, from Tugou Village, was arrested when she went out alone around December 21, 2021. She is being held in the Junan County Detention Center.
In late December, the temperature dropped drastically in Junan County, with the lowest temperature reaching minus 6 degrees Celsius. Ms. Xiao’s son went to the detention center to deliver winter clothes to his mother, but detention center officials refused to take clothes he brought.
Over 20 officers from the Tianjin Domestic Security Division, the Wuqing District Domestic Security Division, and the Douzhangzhuang Police Station broke into Mr. Gao Yuming’s home on December 28, 2017. They ransacked the place and forcibly took Mr. Gao, Ms. Zhou Houmei and two other practitioners into police cars.
The four practitioners were later taken to the Wuqing Detention Center and were officially placed under arrest.
Ms. Zhou was sentenced to four years in prison and was held in the detention center. It was reported that her son spent nearly 100,000 yuan to find the right officials to get his mother released. Nevertheless, Ms. Zhou was sentenced to prison. At the end of Ms. Zhou’s four-year prison term, she returned home on December 27, 2021.
On December 28, 2017, the Tianjin Municipal Police Department dispatched a large number of police officers, together with officers from various district-level police department and their subordinate police stations, to arrest Falun Gong practitioners across the city. Ms. Gao Lijuan and 36 other practitioners were arrested. Among them, at least 14 practitioners, including Ms. Zhou Houmei, were officially placed under arrest. Twelve practitioners were sentenced, with a maximum sentence of 11 years.
The sentenced Falun Gong practitioners include:Li Yongquan was sentenced to 11 years in prison.Gao Lijuan was sentenced to nine years in prison and fined 30,000 yuan.Huang Junjuan was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison.Gao Jianling was sentenced to seven and a half years.Gao Yuming was sentenced to six years in prison.Lu Houfen was sentenced to five and a half years in prison.Xu Xueli was sentenced to four and a half years in prison.Yang Yunxiang was sentenced to four years in prison.Zhou Houmei was sentenced to four years in prison.Feng Junling was sentenced to three and a half years in prison.Jin Zhi was sentenced to three years in prison.He Guirong had a court hearing twice, but the prison term is not known.
Since 2021, people from the Xuyong County Political and Legal Affairs Committee, Domestic Security Division, police stations, and community management offices have repeatedly harassed Fan Shizhi, Wang Manqun, Fu Qingming, Yu Congyan, Zhu Xianfu, Huang Sunan, Zhang Yarong, Wang Jiansheng, and He Jirong. The officials pressured the practitioners to sign the three statements and threatened to deduct their pensions and suspend their children’s jobs if they did not comply.
The officers made a big public show of taking practitioners Yu Congyan, Fu Qingming, and Wang Manqun to the police station. They confiscated their Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong. They shouted and threatened to send the practitioners to the Hejiang Detention Center if they did not sign paperwork.
As a result Ms. He Jirong was forced to leave home. People who did not show any legal paperwork broke into Ms. He’s home. They forcibly opened the door, changed the lock, and constantly harassed her family and children, disrupting their normal life. They told her family that they could sign the three statements on Ms. He’s behalf.
Ms. Zhu Shanrong distributed Falun Gong materials. At around 3 p.m. on December 29, 2021, three police officers ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books and desk calendars. The officers took her to the Hexi police post in the Xiahuayuan District for questioning with transcripts. The officers then took her home and told her that they would come back for her the next day.
Many police officers jumped over the wall and entered Ms. Qian Fuyun’s home in the Jintun Village, Tuoshan Township, and arrested her around 7 a.m. on December 29, 2021.
On January 13, 2021, Ms. Qian was arrested by officers from the Tuoshan Police Station. After returning home later that day, she was continuously harassed by the authorities and pressured to sign paperwork. The Wafangdian Court also issued a subpoena that her case would be prosecuted within a given period of time.
Mr. Shen Guosheng, 44, is a Chinese medicine doctor. Several people broke into his home and pressured his nearly 80-year-old mother for his whereabouts. After learning Mr. Shen’s work address, they went to his workplace. They handcuffed Mr. Shen, took him home, and ransacked the place. They also threatened to detain him.
Ms. Lin Lehong, in her 40s, is being held in the No. 354 Cell in Longgang Detention Center. She has been on a hunger strike for over a month to protest the persecution.
Ms. Zhu Mingrong was reported to the police while talking to an elementary school student on October 24, 2021. She was arrested by officers from the Leshan Police Department. She has been held in custody for over two months.
Mr. Jin Weifeng was arrested at home on November 16, 2020. He has been held in the Qingling Detention Center. No family visits have been allowed. It was reported that Mr. Jin would be sentenced to three years in prison, but the verdict has not been announced.
Mr. Li Hongjun, his wife Ms. Ren Guifen, Ms. Ren’s elder sister, and her younger sister were arrested by officers from the Wolong Police Station, the Mingshan District Police Department, and the Benxi City Domestic Security Division on the evening of December 8, 2021. Their materials production site was ransacked.
It was reported that the police monitored the practitioners for quite some time. Mr. Li was previously sentenced to 10 years in prison, and his wife Ms. Ren was sentenced to 12 years.
Ms. Ren’s sisters have been taken to the Benxi Detention Center. Mr. Li was not taken to the detention center and is being severely abused by police officers.
Ms. Fu Xiaoli and Ms. Nan Minmin are being held in the No. 15 Cell in Longgang Detention Center. Ms. Fu will be released on February 28, 2022. Ms. Nan was sentenced to five and a half years in prison. Ms. Nan’s appeal after the second instance is still pending.
Ms. Liu Xinhua was temporarily staying at her son’s home. In June 2021, she was harassed by people from the Yueliangdao Police Station and the community management office in the Wangcheng District. About 10 people ransacked Ms. Liu’s son’s home from 3 to 4 p.m. on June 4, 2021. Ms. Liu’s son was taken to the police station in handcuffs but was released later that day. The officers confiscated Falun Gong books, DVDs, weekly publications, a jukebox, and other personal belongings.
Ms. Liu was detained for five days.
Ms. Li Hui and Ms. Zheng Qinglan were tried by the Hebei District Court on the morning of December 29, 2021.
Staff from the Jingyang District Political and Legal Affairs Committee, 610 Office, Police Department, Xiaogan Township Police Station, and the Xiaogan Township Party secretary, frequently called and harassed 79-year-old Ms. Feng Shizhen’s son, asking if his mother still practiced Falun Gong. They threatened him on the phone. They went to his home and photographed it. They threatened that Ms. Feng’s granddaughter would not be allowed to go to school. Ms. Feng’s son could not endure the police threats and pressure. He began quarreling with his mother, and demanded that she stop practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Huang Chunfen, 75, was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong on January 14, 2020. She was arrested and taken to the Hongqi Police Department by officers from the Hongqi Domestic Security Division. The officers body-searched her and rummaged through her bag. They did not find anything. They forced Ms. Huang to sign paperwork and released her on bail.
In April 2020, Jiang Zhenmin, head of the Hongqi Domestic Security Division, and others went to Ms. Huang’s home again and ransacked the place. They confiscated four copies of Falun Gong books and 10,000 yuan. Jiang tried to extort 2000 yuan from Ms. Huang’s son, but failed. He forcibly took Ms. Huang for a medical examination. Due to severe high blood pressure and heart disease, the detention center refused to admit her, and Ms. Huang was released.
Afterwards, Ms. Huang received a summons from the Jiangyuan District Procuratorate and the court. Ms. Huang was sentenced to two years in prison by the Jiangyuan District Court on September 30, 2021. In view of the case being prosecuted and Ms. Huang’s physical condition, the judge gave her a suspended sentence.
Jiang Zhenmin insisted on sending Ms. Huang to prison and took her for a medical examination again. Her blood pressure was too high, and she failed the physical examination. The prison officials refused to accept her.
Ms. Meng Caiying, from the Hantai District, was reported to the police by a plainclothes officer while distributing Falun Gong materials at Tanghong Square on the evening of December 27, 2021. A group of officers from the Beiguan Police Station confiscated the materials she carried and took her to the station. The officers interrogated her and photographed her. The officers tracked her down via big data. They found out her home address, ransacked the place, and confiscated a computer, Falun Gong books, and printed materials. They also videotaped the process.
Ms. Meng was released the following day after her family signed the bail paper. In order to avoid further persecution she has left home.
Ms. Zheng Yanhong from Caiyu Town, Daxing District, was reported to the police when she distributed calendars containing information about Falun Gong on the morning of December 5, 2021. Officers from the Caiyu Police Station arrested her. She was detained for 10 days.
On December 7, 2021, the Harqin Banner Domestic Security Division instructed and teamed up with more than 20 police officers from police stations to monitor phone calls made by Ms. Song Cairong, who was nearly 70 years old, and another elderly practitioner with the last name Wang (gender unknown). They went to both practitioners’ homes and arrested them. The officers ransacked their homes and confiscated their Falun Gong books, desk calendars, printed materials, and media players. Both practitioners were held for 10 days in a detention center. They have returned home.
