(Minghui.org) Ms. Zhang Xiaona’s family confirmed on October 9, 2022, that the Huludao City, Liaoning Province, resident has been admitted to Liaoning Province Women’s Prison to serve a four-year term for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Zhang, 48, was arrested on December 3, 2021, and later released on house arrest. She was sentenced to four years with a 10,000-yuan fine by the Lianshan District Court on May 30, 2022, and taken back into custody at the Huludao City Detention Center on July 10.
Ms. Zhang’s imprisonment left her husband, Mr. Chen Jie, and their two children in a dire situation. After being shocked by a power line due to an accident at work in 2020, Mr. Chen had his lower left leg amputated. He cannot hold things with his right hand. He later became blind too. With the family already in huge debt for his medical expenses, he also struggles to pay for the two children’s college and high school tuition, as Chinese students don’t have access to student loans.
Mr. Chen filed complaints against the perpetrators involved in Ms. Zhang’s case but to no avail. He is now desperate about how to go about his daily life since Ms. Zhang has been incarcerated.
