(Minghui.org) After reading the sharing article “Digging Out the Roots of Modern Notions and Behavior amidst Family Conflicts,” I felt very happy for the author (a relatively new practitioner) for realizing her attachment and fixing her relationship with her husband. At the same time, I have some comments about the practitioner’s family members who also practiced Dafa but had passed away after experiencing sickness tribulations.
The practitioner said that her parents, her father’s two sisters, and his brother’s wife all practiced Dafa. Almost every one of these five practitioners experienced various tribulations and three of them later died. The way they handled their tribulations caused her extended family to develop negative thoughts about Dafa.
She recalled in the article what happened to the five family-members,
“Around 2005, my uncle’s wife had a heart attack. She didn’t go to the hospital and passed away. Because of this, her husband and their daughter developed bad thoughts about Dafa.”
“My parents started to have unresolvable conflicts and they quarreled all day long. My mother started to suffer poor health, but she refused to take any medication or see a doctor. She would not listen to anyone, and in the end she passed away.”
“My father’s younger sister continued to practice Dafa during the persecution … Two years ago, she was taken to a detention center. After her release, her conflicts with her family became even worse, and her husband made her leave. She was plagued with sickness karma and passed away. Her husband also harbored much hatred for Dafa. He hated my father for introducing his wife to Dafa in the first place.”
“My father’s older sister also practiced Dafa but wasn’t very serious about it. She is now paralyzed and bedridden.”
“My father didn’t care much about his extended family. His brother died recently and he didn’t even bother to send condolences.”
The situations described in the article that caused a negative impact on Falun Dafa are actually quite common in some practitioners’ families. Such negative impact has made it even more difficult for non-practitioners to see the beauty of Dafa.
I have experienced similar situations, which caused great loss to practitioners involved, their family members, relatives, colleagues, and neighbors. The good thing is that we still have opportunities to do better and fix the problem.
I would like to share an experience I encountered. I work at the Tianti Bookstore in a city outside of China. One day, a Chinese woman came to the store and greeted me in a very friendly manner. As she was talking, she noticed the Dafa books on the shelf. She appeared shocked and immediately flew into a rage. She started badmouthing Falun Dafa, with her finger pointing at me. “You Falun Gong......Where did you learn Falun Gong?! When did you know about it?! Who told you to practice?! Come and ask me if you want to know about Falun Gong. I know better than any of you!” She was very loud, aggressive, and quite emotional.
She carried on like this for around an hour. I kept sending forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the interference from other dimensional fields and calmly clarified the truth to her.
In the end, she said to me, “Well, I actually enjoyed talking with you. Don’t take it personally. I respect your faith,” she then said, “It’s late today. Can I come to talk to you again?”
“Of course, anytime,” I replied.
Later, she told me that soon after her father married a veteran Falun Dafa practitioner, he also started practicing Dafa. After the persecution started, her father fell sick, but her stepmother didn’t want her father to go to the hospital for treatment, and her father passed away. Because of this, she started to hate Falun Dafa and her stepmother, as well as other people who practiced it.
She was working in the education system in China and was well educated herself. From the way she vented to me, a stranger overseas, I could see that she held deep hatred and misunderstanding against Falun Dafa.
Through my explanation and sharing with her, I was able to let her know that Falun Dafa never forbids people to go to the hospital for treatment. It was the CCP propaganda that misled people to believe Falun Dafa didn’t allow people to seek medical care when ill.
I also told her that Falun Dafa teaches people to conduct themselves according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. As for how each individual practitioner understands these principles and puts them into practice, it depends on each one’s enlightenment quality and their cultivation state. People should not blame Falun Dafa for any individual’s behavior as Falun Dafa does not have rules and regulations to restrict people.
Another point I made to her was that the CCP ideology of class struggle has made the Chinese people combative with an inclination to go to extremes. Such indoctrination has been deeply ingrained in many people’s minds and cannot be removed completely as soon as one starts to practice Falun Dafa. We cannot blame Falun Dafa if an individual practitioner behaves improperly when he/she is cultivating. We should accuse the CCP of brainwashing the people instead of berating Falun Dafa.
I felt quiet relieved upon seeing that she understood what I had to say.
When clarifying the truth to people, we must not try to explain the extraordinary cultivation principles or talk about things at high levels. Still, this should not hinder us from kindly understanding their perspectives and guiding them out of their limitations and showing them the right direction.
Every family has conflicts, and every family member of ours has an affinity with us. When we have tribulations or conflicts with them, the real reason might be that they were helping us improve our xinxing.
Our family members’ attitude towards Dafa might also be an indicator of how well we’ve cultivated. If they think we are doing badly and they develop negative attitudes towards Dafa, then we must have some problems ourselves. We should never belittle such issues.
Let us cherish the people around us even more and help them break away with the lies imposed on them by the CCP.
