(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 25 cities or counties in 11 provinces, where at least 40 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Zeng Dongping, 52, a teacher in De’an County, was officially arrested on March 26, 2020. He was sentenced to four years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan by the Yongxiu County Court on November 24, 2020. The Jiujiang City Intermediate Court upheld the original verdict on January 23, 2021.
Mr. Yang Dayun, born in 1964, from De’an County, was arrested on May 19, 2020. He was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan on December 28, 2020.
Mr. Yang was previously subjected to one year of forced labor in 2005.
Ms. Song Jifeng from the Licheng District is being held in custody. It was learned from Ms. Song’s family that she was sentenced to one year and three months in prison. Further information is pending.
Mr. Song Zhi from the Yanliang District was taken to the No. 16 Ward in Weinan Prison on February 28, 2022. Mr. Song refused to admit “criminal facts,” and “did not obey the court ruling,” among other charges against him.
Ms. Wang Xian was arrested by officers from the High-tech Zone Domestic Security Division on the morning of April 20, 2021. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated 9,000 yuan in cash. Ms. Wang was released on bail.
The officers turned over Ms. Wang’s case to the High-tech Zone Procuratorate on the morning of March 9, 2022. The case against her is being prosecuted.
Ms. Wang Shuqin, 62, from Licheng District, was reported to the police for hanging handmade blessing artworks with Falun Gong information in November 2021. She was arrested and her home was ransacked. She was later released. Frightened and refusing to listen when she clarified the truth about Falun Gong, her family locked her up at home to keep her from going out and contacting people.
It was reported that the police station notified her family that Ms. Wang’s case was brought to the Zhangqiu Court and that she would face trial.
Mr. Jia Fengzhong was tried by the Zunhua City Court at 9 a.m. on March 11, 2022. He was arrested at home on October 15, 2021, and has been held in a detention center for months. The detention center has not allowed his family to visit him or send him any clothing.
Mr. Wang Xinqing, a retired doctor, was sentenced to two years in prison by the Tongcheng County Court in August 2019. The court ordered the suspension of his retirement payments and forced him to return two years of salary he previously received.
Elderly Ms. Lei Shengli’s retirement payment was also deducted and then suspended. She was forced to return more than 200,000 yuan to the Social Security Bureau. She should be receiving a normal retirement payment of over 3,800 yuan, yet she only receives a monthly payment of 1,250 yuan based on the minimum living standard.
Four officers from the Guodan Township Police Station, Li County, broke into Ms. Wang Yongfen’s home in Guodan Village at 10 a.m. on February 25, 2021. They ransacked the place and arrested Ms. Wang. They pressured her to sign a guarantee statement, which she refused. Ms. Wang was released at around 5 p.m. that day. The officers told her to return to the police station before 8 a.m. the following day. Ms. Wang has become displaced.
The next morning, when the police did not see Ms. Wang after 8 a.m., they broke into her home, and took her youngest daughter to the police station. The officers claimed that they were holding her daughter in exchange for her showing up. It was not until afternoon that the officers let her daughter return home.
The officers have been harassing Ms. Wang’s family at their home every few days.
Jin and Cao (first names and genders are unknown) from the Limin Development Zone were arrested at around 3:30 p.m. on March 9, 2022.
Officers from the Shazhou Town Police Station, Dunhuang City, knocked on the door at Ms. He Shaohua’s home and harassed her for over an hour. They wanted to have a talk and take photos of her. The officers knocked on the door of her home again at 4 p.m. that day.
The officers and staff members from the community management office went to Ms. Zhang Ximei’s home and harassed her after 3 p.m. on February 7, 2022.
Four or five officers from the Dunhuang City Police Department went to the home of Ms. Ma Guifang’s son-in-law and arrested her at around 4 p.m. on March 2, 2022. They took her to the police department for interrogation. She was released several hours later. At around 9 p.m. that evening, two officers, in police uniforms equipped with law enforcement cameras, went to Ms. He’s home under the pretext of checking her family’s household registration information. They photographed the place, checked around her home, and then left.
Ms. Bao Aizhi was arrested at home by twelve or so officers led by Wang Xiaowei from the Yuzhou City Domestic Security Division at around 5 p.m. on March 10, 2022. The officers ransacked Ms. Bao’s home and confiscated her Falun Gong books and a printer. She was taken to the Domestic Security Division for interrogation.
Ms. Zhang Xia was arrested and her home was ransacked by officers from the Decheng District Domestic Security Division on March 3, 2022. She is being held in a room in Pingyuan County.
Xiaohui (gender unknown) from the Haigang District was arrested about a week ago while telling people about Falun Gong. Xiaohui was detained for 15 days.
Ms. Lai Xiuchun from the Kanggezhuang Village, Xitiangezhuang Township, was arrested again on March 5, 2022. Elderly Ms. Lai was home by herself. The officers climbed over a wall to break in. They ransacked her home and took her to a detention center, which refused to admit her. She was returned home.
It was reported that Ms. Gao Guixiu from Yi County has been transferred to the Jinzhou City Detention Center.
Ms. Li Caiwen, in her 60s, was a former employee at a subordinate unit of the Geological Bureau. She was arrested during the 6/28 large-scale arrest in 2016. She was sentenced to five years in prison. She was incarcerated in the Shenyang Women’s Prison, where she was inhumanly tortured for her steadfast belief in Falun Gong.
After she was released from prison in 2021, the local social security bureau continued to persecute her and refused to resume her pension payments.
The Guangshun Town Political and Legal Affairs Committee has been harassing Ms. Gao Xingfang, 78, nearly every day since September 2021. She was pressured to sign paperwork renouncing Falun Gong. Ms. Gao firmly refused to cooperate. She became displaced.
Local Political and Legal Affairs Committee officials called Ms. Gao’s children and husband, and pressured them to turn in Ms. Gao. Her family did not cooperate. In February 2022, the Guangshun Town Social Security Center began deducting all of Ms. Gao’s retirement payments.
On March 4, the day the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics opened, Mr. Wen Jizong, from Ligezhuang Village, Miyun Town, Miyun District, was followed by four people assigned by the police, who kept an eye on him around the clock.
Mr. Zhang Huabin was arrested at home and taken to the Longjiang Detention Center by officers from the Fuqiang Police Station at around 1 p.m. on March 1, 2022. The officers ransacked the place and confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, two audio players, and Falun Gong books. At the time, Mr. Zhang was alone at home. Further details are not available.
Mr. Miao Jianguo was arrested at home by plainclothes officers from the Zijin Police Station at around 4 p.m. on February 21, 2022. The officers ransacked his home and confiscated numerous copies of the Minghui Weekly publication, among other items. Mr. Miao wanted to make a phone call, but the officers grabbed and took away his phone. Mr. Miao’s phone is still being held in the police station.
When the officers took Mr. Miao away, they told his wife that it was for an inquiry. Afterwards, the police station called and told his wife that Mr. Miao had been taken to the detention center for seven days of detention.
At the end of the seven-day period, on February 27, Mr. Miao’s brother went to the detention center, however he did not see Mr. Miao.
Officers from the Zhoucun Police Department, Zibo City, members of the Liangshan County 610 Office, and officers from the Beiqu Police Station ransacked 57-year-old Ms. Xiao Xiujun’s home and storefront at around 9 a.m. on March 3, 2022. They confiscated Falun Gong books, several copies of Minghui Weekly, and speakers. Ms. Xiao was placed under criminal detention and taken to the Detention Center of the Zhoucun Police Department at 3 p.m. that day. She did not pass the physical examination, and was released on bail. She returned home on the evening of March 5.
Ms. Mei Shufang and many other practitioners were arrested on March 3, 2022. They were taken to the Zibo City Detention Center.
Ms. Dai Yuzhen clarified the truth to a high school student on the afternoon of February 15, 2022 at the entrance of the Qujing No. 2 Middle School. She then handed the student a QR code card. The student told her parents about the incident after returning home, and the parents immediately called 110 emergency police response.
The head of the Qilin District Domestic Security Division led officers to Ms. Dai’s home at around 11:00 a.m. on February 16 and ransacked the place. They arrested her and took her to the Jianning Police Station. Ms. Dai is being held in the Wangjiashan Detention Center.
Officer Gong Yanjiang said that as long as Ms. Dai confessed and told them who instructed her to hand out the QR code card, she would be sentenced leniently, otherwise she would face heavy sentencing. Ms. Dai was officially placed under arrest by the Procuratorate last week.
Ms. Li Pingyu, 68, from the Jiang’an District, was released from prison on December 7, 2021. She was taken to the Shiqiao Brainwashing Center and held there for 25 days.
Ms. Li was arrested by two plainclothes officers led by a domestic security officer on September 7, 2019, for distributing Falun Gong materials. She was held in the Wuhan City No. 1 Detention Center for over one year, and sentenced to two years and three months in prison by the Hanyang District Court. She was then taken to the Wuhan City Women’s Prison.
On December 7, the day she was released from prison, Ms. Li was forcibly taken to the Shiqiao Brainwashing Center in Jiang’an District by two people from the community management office and the sub-district administration office. She was taken home on January 1, 2022.
Plainclothes officers from the Pengzhou City Police Department went to Ms. Su Guoju’s home in Longfeng Town at around 10 a.m. on January 19, 2022. Ms. Su was not at home at that time. In the afternoon, when Ms. Su had just returned home, a group of people in plainclothes came to her home again and ransacked the place. They paid particular attention while searching her tricycle.
Mr. Li Houpei was arrested while distributing Falun Gong materials on the street on February 18, 2022. The police ransacked his home and confiscated his Falun Gong books. Mr. Li was released that evening.
Mr. Qi Wenguo was arrested in recent days by officers from the Lingyuan City Police Department and the Mohudian Police Station. Details on his situation are not yet available.
Ms. Wang Xiuying was arrested by domestic security officers from the Lingyuan City Police Department, officers from the Dongcheng Police Station, and staff members of the community management office. The officers ransacked Ms. Wang’s home when no one was there. The neighbors said that the officers confiscated many items. Ms. Wang was released on bail.
The cases against Zhang Kunshan, Wang Zhongxue, Wu Yanling, Li Jing, and Wan Guiying were brought to the Lingyuan City Court. The court has not yet pronounced any verdicts.
Ms. Yu Shufen was sentenced to three years and two months in prison. The sentencing was upheld in the second instance.
Five or six officers from the Dongluqiao Police Station arrived at Ms. Li Haiyan’s temporary residence in Tonghai County, Kunming City at around 9 a.m. on March 5, 2022. These people turned off the power switch. When Ms. Li’s family opened the door, they forced their way into her home and ransacked the place. They confiscated Falun Gong books among other personal belongings. They took Ms. Li to the police station.
While the officers were ransacking the place, Ms. Li’s daughter asked whether they had a search warrant. The officers refused to answer. When she used her phone to take photos of the officers they grabbed it. The officers arrested the daughter and took her to the police station for “obstructing law enforcement.” She was later released.
It was reported that Ms. Li is being held in the Kunming City Detention Center.
