(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 18 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Han, first name unknown, talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in a village in Haiyang Town on May 5, 2022. Someone reported her to the Haiyang Town government. Clerks took her to the Haiyang Police Station, and officers detained her in the Qinhuangdao City Police Hospital. She went on a hunger strike to protest her arrest.
Ms. Xu Guizhen of the Fangzi District was arrested by officers from the Fenghuang Police Station. She was taken to a detention center, but guards refused to accept her because of her poor health. The Fangzi District Domestic Security Division filed a charge against her. The Kuiwen District Court has scheduled a trial for June 8, 2022.
Bi Jiquan, gender unknown, lives in western Qingdao City. Bi was arrested at home by six plainclothes officers on the morning of May 30, 2022. The officers ransacked Bi’s home. While in police custody, Bi had cramps and collapsed. Bi was taken to the emergency room of a Chinese traditional medicine hospital.
Ms. Xu Aiying and Mr. Xu Zhijun of Weihe Town were arrested on May 10, 2022. Police ransacked their homes, and seized their Falun Gong books and supplies. Jiang Yaohua (a family member) and Ms. Shao Mingli were arrested the next day. Ms. Shao was released.
Ms. Li Gongqin of the Rongchang District was arrested at home after she had been stalked. Her home was ransacked. Her computer, cell phone, Falun Gong books, and other items were confiscated. She was released after she developed symptoms of high blood pressure.
Ms. Yi Jinghua, around 60, was harassed at home by two officers from the Yangchu Town Police Station on May 27, 2022. An officer brought out photograph equipment and was about to take picture of her. She stopped him. The officers tried to take away two copies of Zhuan Falun. She told them not to touch her books. They left.
Ms. Chu Xu was arrested downstairs by four plainclothes people when she was leaving home for work on November 23, 2020. Her home was ransacked. They seized her Falun Gong books, a picture of Falun Gong’s founder, a cell phone, and cash worth 5,000 yuan. She was incarcerated in a detention center and was sentenced to a year in prison. She was released on November 22, 2021.
Ms. Li Wanrong of Chicheng County was arrested by officers from the Chicheng County Domestic Security Division on May 13, 2022, after someone reported her. Her Falun Gong books and printers were confiscated. The officers questioned her, had her sign police records, and said she would be detained. She was released at night.
Li Jian who teaches at Zhongshan University, was arrested at home by officers from the Zhuhai District Police Department and the Xingangjie Police Station on November 5, 2020. The officers ransacked his home and confiscated his printers, computers, and other items.
Police filed charges against him with the Zhuhai District Procuratorate on February 25, 2021. The court sentenced him to three-and-a-half-years in prison but did not notify his family as required by law.
Ms. Sheng Hanqiu of Rongcheng City was harassed at home on May 23, 2022, by Yi Nengjin from the Yatou Street Judicial Office and clerks from Lingyatou Street and the Huaqiao Community. They ordered her to sign documents renouncing Falun Gong. She refused.
A practitioner met Yi Nengjin on May 30 and gave Yi a letter that had information about Falun Gong. Yi got angry and called the police station in the jurisdiction. Officers came and arrested the practitioner. In the Rongning Police Station, an officer showed the letter to the director, came back and said, “If it’s so good, then practice at home. Go home.” The practitioner was released.
Ms. Cao Guiru was arrested at home around May 13, 2022, by five or six officers from the Tiedong Police Station. The officers ransacked her home, and found many copies of Minghui Weekly. She was taken to the Tiedong Police Station. She has been released.
Ms. Yang Shuhua was stopped by doormen when she entered the B Area, Huananyuan Community in Fangting Town at 8:24 p.m. on May 7, 2022. The doormen told her that the police came and left a message that she was to go straight to the police station for questioning. She did not comply. Six or seven plainclothes officers stepped out of a car parked nearby, arrested her, and took her to the Yongcheng Police Station.
The officers grabbed her hand to press her fingerprints, then ordered her to say her name and resident identity number. She did not cooperate. She was released at 10:00 p.m.
Ms. Guo of the Yuexiu District, 52, first name unknown, was arrested for posting Falun Gong flyers in Panfu Road by officers from the Yuexiu District Police Department and the Liurong Police Station on April 25, 2021. The Liwan District Court sentenced her to 18 months in prison and fined her 5,000 yuan at the end of 2021. She appealed to the Guangzhou Intermediate Court. The court affirmed the sentence on January 29, 2022.
Ms. Yin Changhua was arrested at home on the evening of May 30, 2022, for posting Falun Gong flyers in a public area.
Ms. Guo Xiurong is being held in the Jiujiang City Detention Center.
