(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 31 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Guo Fengrong’s home was ransacked by Liu Hongliang and two other officers from the Ludongcun Police Station around 10:00 p.m. on December 14, 2022. She left home without any winter outerwear while the officers were distracted. She is in her 70s and is suffering from leg weakness. Her whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Zhou Fengqun was arrested by Beijingjie Police Station officers on September 20, 2022. She is being held in the Yuexiu District Detention Center. The guards have denied her family’s requests to visit her.
Mr. Deng Xiancheng from Qionghai City was arrested on October 14, 2022, when he was posting Falun Gong flyers in Longhu Town. He was detained for 15 days in the Longhu Town Police Station before he was transferred to the Dingan County Detention Center. He is still held there.
Ms. Ren Zhili was arrested at home on November 21, 2022. Seven or eight officers from the Yingpu Police Station knocked on her door around 10:00 p.m. They pretended to look for her husband. When she opened the door, they handed her a detention warrant and ordered her to sign it. She refused. They confiscated her Zhuan Falun.
She was handcuffed over night and interrogated in the police station. An officer tried to measure her height and photograph her the next afternoon. She refused to cooperate. Four to five officers used force to drag her into a camera room. She closed her eyes. A female officer grabbed her hair. She made a fist when they tried to collect her fingerprints. The female officer pulled her thumb back. She was in extreme pain, and her arm immediately swelled. She was released after 8:00 p.m. the next day.
Ms. Yang Yuzhi was arrested on the morning of December 8, 2022. A man around 40 drove a white car. He stopped and asked her for directions. She gave detailed directions and told him about Falun Gong. The man said he was an officer from the city police department and had officers from the Jishu Police Station arrest her. She was released around 9:00 p.m.
Ms. He Lijun and Ms. Li Guilan, both in their 70s, were arrested by Jiang Changhui and other officers from the Kaixuanlu Police Station on the afternoon of February 11, 2022, after someone reported them and said that they talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Their homes were ransacked. They were held in the police station over night and transferred to the Changchun No. 4 Detention Center the next day.
Ms. Li was released six or seven days later and placed under house arrest. Ms. He was sentenced to eight months in prison and fined eight months’ social security payments. She was released on October 12, 2022.
Mr. Yue Chunguang was arrested at home at 8:30 p.m. on August 11, 2022. His home was ransacked. His printer, notebook computer, and other items were confiscated. His seventy-five-year-old mother-in-law was left behind alone. Officers from the Shanxia Police Station and Zhenxing Community staff claimed they would take care of her. But they did not. His neighbor asked community clerks and officers to check her on October 20. When they went there she was dead.
Eight practitioners were tried online by the Guan County Court on December 21, 2022. The process lasted from 10:00 a.m. to the end of the afternoon.
The eight practitioners were:Mr. Zhou Chunbao, 48, deputy director of the Guan County Tax Bureau (detained);Ms. Zhang Yuxiang, around 50, Liangtang Township, Guan County (detained);Mr. Zhang Bingliang, around 70, Liangtang Township, Guan County (at home);Mr. Kong Dequan, around 60, Guan County (at home);Mr. Wang Ruixiang, in his 50s, Guan County;Mr. Xu Hengkui, around 60, Ganguantun, Guan County (at home);Ms. Gao Shuzhen, in her 40s, Tangyuan Village, Linqing City (at home);Mr. Han Zhenlin, around 70, Dongjiu County, Linqing City (at home).
Sixteen practitioners were arrested by more than two hundred plainclothes officers after 6:00 a.m. on May 10, 2021. They were held at 1 Yangcheng Road, Changshu City.
Zhu Qiuling was released two weeks later.
Nine practitioners, Ji Yong, Pan Ning, Cui Ping, Wu Xiaoming, Dong Wanyu, Li Shoujie, Zhu Ying, Han Guixiang, and Zhang Yumei, were released on bail pending trial around November 7, 2021.
Mei Hongjuan and Ji Cuiping were released around November 7, 2021. Their cases were handled separately.
Yuan Huifen, Chang Zheng, and Wen Jian were transferred to the Suzhou City No. 4 Detention Center on November 16, 2021, and have since been held there.
Zhao Haibo was transferred to the Changshu City Detention Center on November 16, 2021, and has since been held there.
The Zhangjiagang City Procuratorate filed indictments with the Zhangjiagang City Court on May 18, 2022 against thirteen of the practitioners. They were Ji Yong, Pan Ning, Yuan Huifen, Zhao Haibo, Cui Ping, Wu Xiaoming, Dong Wanyu, Zhu Ying, Chang Zheng, Li Shoujie, Han Guixiang, Zhang Yumei, and Wen Jian.
The Zhangjiagang City Court ruled on May 23, 2022. Due to pandemic prevention and control process, the case was suspended.
Ms. Cui Bing has been detained for more than four months. Her ninety-one-year-old mother-in-law filed a charge against prosecutors Wang Dekun and Yang Danding, as well as attorney general Wang Xian of the Nanpiao District Procuratorate. She charged them for depriving a citizen of their freedom of religion and belief, false accusation, bending the laws for personal gain, and abuse of power. She called for the acquittal of Ms. Cui.
