(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 6 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 9 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Kong Fanqin was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 4,000 yuan by the Shulan City Court on December 30, 2022. Ms. Xu Shuhui was sentenced to two years in prison which was suspended for three years. Ms. Xu, who had been detained, was released around January 1, 2023.
The trials against Mr. Huang Zhisong and Mr. Jiang Xiagen were scheduled for December 8, 2022, by the Taihu County Court. Because of the pandemic, they were rescheduled for December 23 and changed to virtual trials. Mr. Huang and Mr. Jiang objected and demanded in-person trials. The court agreed and canceled the virtual trials. A new trial date is to be determined.
Ms. Liu Gangli was not allowed to talk to her family by phone since she was imprisoned in August 2022. The prison finally opened for family visits. She met her husband for 10 minutes. The guards were with them the entire time. She did not give any details about her situation.
Ms. Liu Sujuan of the Yanqing District talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. A student took a video of her with a cell phone and reported her to the police. She was arrested near her home by officers from the Baiquan Police Station on January 5, 2023. She was released that night.
She was arrested again after 11:00 a.m. on January 6, 2023. Her family was told to pick her up in Shigezhuang on January 19 or 20.
Ms. Sun Guangyu’s home was ransacked when she was not there by more than a dozen officers on the morning of January 5, 2023. When she returned home, she found they had taken her Falun Gong books, printers, Falun Gong materials, several thousand yuan in paper currency with Falun Gong messages printed on them, and other items. She was later arrested and taken to the Yongyang Police Station. Ms. Pan Chengying was arrested at the same time. Ms. Pan was previously arrested and sentenced many times.
Officers took them to the Nanjing City Detention Center. Ms. Sun was released after the center did not admit her because of her health condition. Ms. Pan is still held there.
Ms. Hu Rimei of Xiniulan, Changli County, was arrested around March 2016 and was sentenced to three years in prison. She was released from the Hebei Province Women’s Prison on August 20, 2019. Three and a half years have passed but she still has not recovered from the terrors of the persecution. Curtains cover all her windows even in the daytime. She is afraid to see anyone. She does not feel hungry or full; she cannot tell when she’s hot or cold. She wears the same clothes no matter the weather. She is very thin and her face is pale. No one knows what she suffered during her imprisonment.
