(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 28 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Wang Mingyi (also known as Wang Mingguang), was sentenced to four years in prison. Mr. Wang, who is in his 70s, is a resident of Honghuabu Town. He was arrested four months ago in Xinyi City, Jiangsu Province. He was imprisoned before for seven years for practicing Falun Gong.
Five practitioners from Hui’an County were reading a Falun Gong book together when a group of plainclothes officers picked the lock and broke into the place on the evening of June 18, 2022. They were all arrested. The practitioners included Mr. Zhuang Dongjie, Ms. Zhuang Yurong, Ms. Liao Cuihong, Zheng Jinqing, and Lin Peisheng.
They were sentenced in September 2023. Mr. Zhuang was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison and fined 30,000 yuan. Ms. Zhuang and Ms. Liao were sentenced to three and a half years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan. Zheng was sentenced to 14 months in prison and fined 8,000 yuan. Lin was sentenced to eight months in prison and fined 6,000 yuan.
Mr. Chen Chunsheng, a Weihe Forestry Bureau employee, was harassed for distributing Falun Gong flyers on January 20, 2022.
Ms. Xu Aiying, a Weihe Forestry Bureau employee, was arrested and detained on May 10, 2022, and her home was ransacked. A picture of the founder of Falun Gong, Falun Gong books, a notebook computer, and printers and other personal items were confiscated.
That same day, Mr. Xu Zhijun, Ms. Xu Aiying’s younger brother, was arrested, and his home was ransacked. Ms. Shao Mingli and her husband Mr. Jiang Yuehua were arrested. Their computer room and house were ransacked.
These four practitioners were released on bail. Ms. Xu Aiying was sentenced to three years in prison on July 14, 2023. She is incarcerated in the Heilongjiang Women’s Prison.
The homes of Guo Jie and Fu Chongjin, residents of Weihe Town, were ransacked by Gao Jianping and other officers from the Shangzhi City Domestic Security Division and the Weihe Town Police Station on July 11.
The homes of five practitioners who work for the Weihe Forestry Bureau were illegally searched on August 4th by Gao Jianping and other officers from the Shangzhi City Domestic Security Division, as well as officers from the Weihe Forestry Bureau. The practitioners included Chen Guoling, Lu Ying, Che Zhongzhen, Han Xiting, Li Xiuqin, and Meng Qingmin. Their satellite dishes, Falun Gong books, notebook computers, and other personal belongings were confiscated. Lu and Che were arrested, but they were released on bail on August 5th after their physical exams disqualified them from being admitted to a detention center. Li was held in administrative detention and has since been released. Meng was held in criminal detention for 37 days, paid 200 yuan in bail, and was released on bail for a year.
Ms. Ma Junting, 84, Mr. Li Naixiu, 90, and Ms. Lu Keqin, 77, were harassed at home on the afternoon of October 16, 2023 by four officers from the Daizongfang Police Station and community clerks. Their pictures of the founder of Falun Gong and Falun Gong books were confiscated.
Ms. Ma was harassed several years ago for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked and her Falun Gong books were confiscated. She was sentenced to four years in prison and served the sentence outside of prison. Her work unit, Tai’an City University of Technology, fired her and deprived her of her pension. Her husband was frightened by the persecution and died. Ms. Ma now has difficulty walking and is not able to take care of herself. She was ordered to report her thoughts in writing. Police frequently harass her at home.
Mr. Li had stomach cancer. He recovered after he practiced Falun Gong. Officers learned he was a practitioner, ransacked his home and confiscated all of his Falun Gong books.
Ms. Lu was sentenced to four years in prison years ago for distributing Falun Gong flyers. She served her entire sentence outside of prison. She has been deprived of her pension for many years.
Mr. Luo Changyong was arrested and taken to the police station by three plainclothes officers at around 11:00 a.m. on March 15, 2022. The officers claimed they were from the Banzhuyuan Police Station. They suspected he pasted sticky notes with messages like “Reciting ‘Falun Dafa is good’ and ‘Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good’ will bring blessings in disasters.”
His home was illegally searched on the afternoon of March 16, 2022 by officer Zhou Yujun from the Banzhuyuan Police Station and Cao Xuchuan from the Xindu Police Department’s Domestic Security Division.
He was released on bail at around 7:00 p.m. on March 16 after being detained for 32 hours.
He was arrested again in Tianhui Town on August 21, 2023. His family received his arrest notification that was issued by the Xindu District Police Department. He has been held in the Xindu Detention Center since August 22. Prosecutors questioned him twice.
Ms. Wang Guaiyan was arrested in front of her home on October 12, 2023 by officers from the Dongfeng Road Police Station. They illegally searched her home and confiscated a picture of the founder of Falun Gong, a computer, a cell phone, U-drives, keepsakes, and other personal belongings.
Ms. Yang Zhuan’e was arrested at home the same day. Her home was illegally searched.
Officers took them to the police station and tried to have them admitted to a detention center. But the Baoji City No. 2 Detention Center did not admit them because neither of them passed the required physical exam. Before releasing them, the police station’s director Li and the police forced them to sign release on bail statements and pay 1,000 yuan.
Zheng Changlin, a resident of Zhongshan Village, Muling City, was arrested in August 2023 by officers from the No. 1 Police Station. Zheng’s home was ransacked. Zheng was held for more than two months in the Bamiantong Detention Center.
Mr. Peng Jianpu, living in Bamiantong Town, was arrested by officer Wang Zhongjun from the No. 1 Police Station when he was distributing Falun Gong flyers in October 2022. He was sentenced to six years in prison and fined 3,000 yuan. He was given a year of parole because he had high blood pressure.
He was taken to a hospital for a physical exam on August 19, 2023 by a deputy captain from the Domestic Security Division and officer Wang Xianghai from the No. 1 Police Station. His blood pressure was over 200 mmHg. The officers said he would undergo another exam.
Hailin City Court judge Jiang Xinkun and clerk Hu Haidong met Mr. Peng, saying he would have a brain exam in hospital.
Ms. Mo Huiping was deprived of her job. Her manager wanted to keep her, but was afraid of being implicated. They had her call her community officer Yang Juan. Yang scolded her and verbally abused her. Yang called and threatened her managers, and deterred them from keeping her employed.
Ms. Niu Guihua and Ms. Zhou Yanli, who live in Hushitai Town, were arrested by officers from the Hushitai Police Station after 7:00 p.m. on October 17, 2023. The officers took them to the police station and tried to have them undergo physical exams, but it was too late to do so. They were released after 11:00 p.m. The police said they would get them the next day and ordered their family to watch them.
Ms. Li Ning, living in Qianguan Village, Dalianwan Town, was arrested on the morning of October 18, 2023 when she was talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked.
