(Minghui.org) This report presents three cases of Falun Gong practitioners sentenced to prison in Foshan City, Guangdong Province between 2021 and 2023.
Ms. Tan Meiguang, around 53, is a resident of Foshan City. She was arrested on March 18, 2021, by agents from the Yongan Police Station and the Diejiao Police Station. The police didn’t provide her family with any updates on her case status. Her loved ones learned later that she was sentenced to two and a half years by the Chancheng District Court at the end of 2021.
Ms. Tan’s prison term should have ended in September 2023. It is unclear whether she has been released at the time of writing.
Ms. Wu Xiaolan is a resident of Xingning City, Guangdong Province. She was arrested in Foshan (about 180 miles away from Xingning) on September 2, 2021, after being reported for distributing Falun Gong flyers in a hospital there.
Ms. Wu was taken to the Foshan City Detention Center and later sentenced to two and a half years. It is unclear which court in Foshan City convicted her. She is now serving time at the Guangdong Province Women’s Prison.
Ms. He Xiaohua lives in Chancheng District, Foshan City. Her local street committee and the Lanshi Police Station deceived her into going to the street committee office to have a talk on January 19, 2023, only to arrest her on her arrival. The police targeted her because she had written to them, as well as the local procuratorates and courts, urging them to stop participating in the persecution of Falun Gong.
Ms. He appeared in the Chancheng District Court twice, on September 18 and November 8, before being sentenced to four and a half years on November 15. She is appealing the wrongful conviction.
It is unclear where Ms. He is currently detained.
