(Minghui.org) Mou Hong (pseudonym) and I often met outside the school that our children went to, and we became good friends. She was seriously ill at the age of 33, and doctors said that she had only three months to live. This was in 2009.
Mou was diagnosed with heart disease at the age of 5 and had been haunted by it for 28 years. On top of that, she also suffered from mastitis, cervical spondylosis, and gynecological problems. There was something wrong with almost every part of her. Taking medications every day was part of her daily routine, and she had spent thousands of yuan on pharmaceuticals and treatment, putting her family deep in debt.
After being absent for a while, she came to drop off her child at school one day. She looked pale and emaciated, her eyes lifeless, and her lips purple. I asked her where she had been. Before she could reply, tears ran down her cheeks. She said that she had been to Beijing to seek medical help and had spent over 17,000 yuan on doctor visits and tests, only to be told it was an advanced heart disease. She burst into tears again.
Crying along with her, I asked her to practice Falun Dafa with me. I also recommended that she quit the Youth League, a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) youth organization, to secure a bright future for herself.
She hesitated and replied, “I have a classmate who practices Falun Dafa, but he was too into it and would not give up no matter what.”
“Falun Dafa improves one’s mind and body. Of course, he would not stop even after the persecution started,” I explained. But Mou was still not convinced.
Two weeks later, I saw her again. With tears streaming down her cheeks, she told me that she had been back to the hospital in Beijing, and spent another 17,000 yuan on tests. Now her vision was blurry, and she felt flustered. This time, her doctors urged her to have a heart transplant as soon as possible; otherwise, she had only about three months to live. The surgery would cost 500,000 yuan.
Over the past few years, she had used up all her family’s savings on her medical care. “Where on earth can I find 500,000 yuan?” she sobbed and said. “I am only 33 years old, but I am going to die soon. I’m not too worried about my parents or my husband because they would eventually get over it, but I’m concerned for my nine-year-old daughter. Who will take care of her if I die?”
I cried with her, and once again encouraged her to practice Dafa. “Only Dafa’s Master can save you. You should give it a try just for the sake of your daughter.”She refused and neither would she quit the CCP’s Youth League.
I explained, “The CCP harms people and is a red demon in another dimension. We vowed to devote our lives to that demon when we joined the organization. Why not quit it to save yourself?”
She finally agreed: “You’re right. I’m dying anyway. Please help me quit the CCP organizations.”
When I saw her a month later, Mou’s face glowed. She looked healthy and full of energy and quickly told me her good news, “Since the day you asked me to withdraw from the CCP, I have felt so much better. I haven’t taken a single pill since then. I even bought an electric scooter and have been working in a woodworking factory for almost a month now.”
I responded with tears in my eyes, “Dafa is really amazing! You suffered from that heart disease for 28 years. But after quitting the CCP, you were cured. Dafa is great and Master is so compassionate.”
“No,” she insisted, “it was because I drank a box of blood-enriching donkey-hide gelatin syrup that my sister-in-law gave me. That’s cured me.”
Disappointed with her reaction, I asked, “If the donkey-hide gelatin syrup was so effective, why did the doctors in Beijing say you needed a heart transplant?” She did not know what to say.
When we met over a week later, she said disheartened, “Since the last time I saw you, I’ve had a heart attack. It happened the very next day. I felt dizzy and very uncomfortable. I was put on an IV for seven days in the township hospital but my condition did not improve. Why?” she continued.
“Master Li saved your life after you quit the Youth League, but you insisted that it was a box of blood-enriching gelatin that had cured you,” I said. “If we do not follow our conscience, nobody can help us. Right?”
Mou was embarrassed and said, “I am sorry I was scared [because of the persecution]. Now I know I was wrong and I shouldn’t have said that. I will correct myself in the future, and really thank Dafa and Master Li (Dafa’s founder).”
Mou recovered soon after that and went back to work on her electric scooter.
The 47-year-old Mou is now illness-free and very healthy. She even runs a barbershop by herself. Her daughter is 23 years old and is going to graduate from college this year. Having witnessed all this, I am very grateful for Master’s compassion.
