(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 46 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Officers from the Changchun City Police Department and the Erdao District Domestic Security Division arrested several Falun Gong practitioners on February 19, 2023. Those arrested were Ms. Liu Xiaohua, Mr. Wang Qixue, Ms. Tang Xiaoyan, Ms. Liu (whose given name contains the character Hong), among others. A truth clarification material production site was ransacked, and a large number of Falun Gong books and paper bills with Falun Gong facts written on them were confiscated.
Ms. Liu Huiping was arrested by officers from the Lianxi District Domestic Security Division on the morning of September 26, 2022. She was held for 15 days before being placed in criminal detention on October 12. She was officially placed under arrest by the Lianxi District Procuratorate on October 21. Her case was sent to the Yongxiu County Procuratorate in late December 2022. Two weeks later, before January 22, 2023 the procuratorate brought her case to the Yongxiu County Court. She was scheduled to be tried in the Jiujiang City Detention Center on February 24.
Ms. Cai Zefang, in her 80s, went out from her relatives’ home in Guang’an City to talk to people about Falun Gong around February 8, 2023. Her relatives have not heard from her since then, and her current whereabouts are not known.
Four officers from the Dongzhan Police Station, Erdao District, went to Ms. Zhang Chunjie’s home in Yuandinghuayuan Community in the Jingyue District on February 19, 2023. They arrested Ms. Zhang and her husband, and ransacked the place. Around the same time they also arrested Ms. Lu Jinhua, Ms. Lu’s sister, and Ms. Zhao Guizhi and ransacked their homes.
On the evening of February 19, Ms. Zhang’s husband and Ms. Lu’s sister returned home.
Ms. Qing Deyu, a retired teacher who worked in the Xigao Town Primary School in Guanghan City, is 80 years old. She and her children are currently in Guiyang.
Two days ago, the local court called her son Mr. Huang Guanzhong and said that his mother would be sentenced to prison on February 22, 2023.
Ms. Qing was in Guiyang in the second half of 2022, when the police arrested her took her to a detention center for clarifying the truth about the persecution. The police claimed that she should have been held in custody for two or three months, but they released her due to the pandemic. After she returned home, she suffered physical injures. Now she faces sentencing.
Eleven practitioners, including Ms. Xu Na, Mr. Li Zongze, Ms. Meng Qingxia, Mr. Liu Qiang, Mr. Li Lixin, Ms. Zheng Yanmei, Ms. Deng Jingjing, Ms. Zheng Yujie, Mr. Zhang Renfei, Ms. Jiao Mengjiao, and Ms. Li Jiaxuan, were arrested by officers from the Dongcheng District Police Department and local police stations on July 19, 2020. Their homes were ransacked, and they were held in the Dongcheng District Detention Center.
Their cases were brought to the Dongcheng District Court in early April 2021, and the trial was held on October 15, 2021. On January 14, 2022, the court sentenced the 11 practitioners to two to eight years in prison.
Artist Ms. Xu Na was sentenced to eight years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan for sending photos of Beijing street scenes during the COVID-19 outbreak to an overseas news publication, the Epoch Times.
On March 14, 2022, the Beijing No. 2 Intermediate Court suspended the trial.
On February 19, 2023, the Beijing No. 2 Intermediate Court restarted the trial.
Ms. Xu Na and other eight practitioners are still being held in the Dongcheng District Detention Center.
Ms. Huang Lizhen went to the farmers market to clarify the truth about the persecution on February 2, 2023. After returning home, she found her home in a mess, and learned that officer Luo Wen had led four other police officers to ransack it. They confiscated Falun Gong books and printed materials.
On the same day, these people went to Ms. Zeng Linghua’s home and confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong. They also went to Ms. Zeng Hanhua’s home and confiscated her Falun Gong books and photographed the place.
On February 14, 2023, Luo Wen, other officers and two community workers responsible for monitoring Internet content went to Ms. Wang Huazhang’s home. They asked Ms. Wang’s daughter for her National ID number and cell phone number. The two community workers photographed Ms. Wang.
Ms. Guo Xiuying and Ms. Liu Liangrong clarified the truth about the persecution to a plainclothes officer on Chengbei Street in Suining City in early February 2023. They were arrested and taken to the Jiahe Police Station. Their homes were ransacked. The officers confiscated over 120 yuan in paper bills that Ms. Guo had with information about Falun Gong written on them. They confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong and an MP3 player from her home. They also confiscated over 300 yuan in paper bills with information about Falun Gong written on them from Ms. Liu. They ransacked Ms. Liu’s home and confiscated dozens of Falun Dafa books and an MP3.
The two practitioners were taken to a detention center. The guards told them to put on uniforms. Ms. Guo refused to wear the uniform and clarified the truth to the guards. Ms. Guo was detained for 10 days, and Ms. Liu was detained for seven days.
Ms. Xiang Deyu, 83, and Ms. Meng Daole, 77 were also arrested by officers from the Gaosheng Street Police Station in February. Their homes were ransacked.
On the morning of February 19, 2023, Mr. Wang Qixue went out and did not return. On the afternoon of February 19, his child went out to look for him, but has not returned either. It was believed that they were arrested.
Mr. Li Shulin and his wife Ms. Wang Lijuan from Jianxi District were reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong materials during the Chinese New Year season in late January 2023. On January 31, the couple was arrested at home by officers from the Political Security Division of Jianxi District Police Department. The officers confiscated their Falun Gong books, personal belongings, and 10,000 yuan in cash.
The couple has now returned home and are under residential surveillance.
Ms. Zhang Chunli was arrested at home by officers from the Changchun City Police Department and the local police station on February 19, 2023. The officers confiscated her personal belongings. Ms. Zhang will be detained for 10 days.
Prosecutor Zhang of Daowai District Procuratorate called Mr. Gao Ke on the morning of February 17, 2023, and told him to go to the procuratorate for interrogation. Mr. Gao and his wife arrived at the procuratorate at 10 a.m.
On December 5, 2022, officers from the Changjiu Road Police Station and the Hongqi Street Police Station broke into the homes of Ms. Ma Guiqing, Mr. He Yan, Ms. Wang Min, and Mr. Zhang Wengui, and arrested Ms. Ma, Mr. He, Ms. Wang, and two other practitioners Liu and Ma who went to read the Falun Gong teachings at Ms. Ma Guiqing’s home. These practitioners were subsequently released and placed under residential surveillance.
On February 13 and 14, 2023, Mr. He was arrested again and placed under criminal detention. He was released for health reasons. His case has now been turned over to the procuratorate. It was reported that all cases of the persecution of Falun Gong in Changchun City were transferred to the Chaoyang District Court for processing.
Mr. Luan Dewu, Mr. Liu Guijie, Mr. Zhang Qian, and Ms. Wang Li were arrested by officers from the Shuanglong Town Police Station while driving on February 6, 2023. They were detained for 13 days in the Gongzhuling City Detention Center.
Mr. Liu was admitted to the Gongzhuling Central Hospital due to high blood pressure, which was 220, and an irregular heartbeat.
On February 19, the detention center told the practitioners’ families to pick them up at 8:30 the following morning. But the next morning, a police car drove to the detention center, and took Mr. Luan, Mr. Zhang, and Ms. Wang to the Gongzhuling City Detention Center.
Ms. Hou Lijun and Ms. Fan Caiyun from Yuzhou City were arrested by police officers from Zhengzhou City when they went to Zhengzhou for business on February 15, 2023.
That evening, their homes were ransacked, and their family members were also arrested. They family members were subsequently released. Ms. Hou’s and Ms. Fan’s whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Guo Xiaoyun and her husband Mr. Huang Yiqin from Wuhan City, Hubei Province, drove to Taizhou City, Jiangsu Province, to visit relatives on February 11, 2023. Taizhou City is her father’s hometown.
On the afternoon of February 13, the couple was spotted by the police while distributing information about Falun Gong in a residential community in Jiangyan District, Taizhou City. The police also found leaflets in their suitcases. The couple was arrested on the afternoon of February 14, and placed under criminal detention on February 15. They are currently being held in Taizhou City Detention Center.
Ms. Lei Yuanhua distributed truth-clarification materials in a residential community on February 16, 2023. She was caught by surveillance cameras and was arrested. She is now being held in the Chenzhou City Detention Center.
